How do you feel about roughhousing and your boys? It seems like mine want to do it a good 50% of the day and it is

My boys always liked to roughhouse, and still do at times, though it's harder now because it gets Pippi all upset and the barking alone is enough to make them stop, lol.

I have issues with roughhousing but I'm really trying to relax about it. It seems like boys just need to do some of it. My big beef with it is that someone seems to always get hurt! I warn and warn about it but someone is always in tears by the end. Thankfully no one has been seriously hurt, but still. I wouldn't allow mattress rafting or "suspension" play. That seems to be just asking for an emergency room visit!

Yes, the mattress rafting and suspension play would be over the line for me too!

It might help them but it drives me batty!

I let it go on to a certain point, until someone gets hurt ;) I do think it promotes bonding between the boys, but I always make sure it's being done out of fun and not anger.

I'm glad Laura brought up the barking dog issue, because that totally makes me want to scream. Not only do the boys get wound up, but the dogs do as well.. grrrr...

I'm not sure what suspension play is but it caught my attention. Is it roughhousing in slow motion? I'm thinking with their taekwondo background, they might be able to handle something like that and maybe not get hurt? It would almost half to make it more for fun than for anger too.

Oh, I was thinking the boys would actually be suspended from some kind of makeshift rigging.

I let mine go to a point too but usually someone gets hurt or is in tears and it makes the dogs go insane. I am interested in finding the book though. Maybe it has some ideas for the above issues to be avoided?
