Wow, I can't believe he's so old & such a big guy already! It takes my breath away & makes me sigh knowing that he's Sooo ready to be out of the house when he turns 18.

Steph's been my buddy for a long time, he's my rock & is really a level headed kid. He is kinda clueless about grades and he's study habits..well we're still working on them. I'm just hoping he graduates and stays home long enough after graduation to go to junior college. He'll probably end up living with his grandfather for a couple of years after graduation, since Steph feels they have so much in's scary they do! But at least I might be able to motivate him telepathically from afar to go to the jr. college near my dads. A mother's prayer!

Steph's been playing saxaphone for about 4 years now and is pretty good, although he doesn't play with the highschool band, because he doesn't like the band director, he does still take lessons. He also looks forward to playing football next year for the highschool..still waiting to see if his grades will allow him to actually play. I'm looking forward to seeing him play & get some motivation or spring back in his step.

He's everyone's big brother, all the girls cry on his huge teddy bear shoulders...but he has yet to find a girlfriend...and mom's glad that he's not looking. He hopes to drive some sort of muscle car in the near future & visiting California where he grew up.

In a nut shell I'll miss him when he makes that stride for independance away from home he knows me the best and has been with me thru some rough time & good times...I miss him already.

It's scary to think our "baby"'s can be so close to being grown & on their own. Good luck to him on the grades, maybe football will be the incentive he needs.

I am new here and have not properly intorduced myself and for that I am so sorry! I saw your post however and had to reply! You took all my feelings about my own son and put them into words which I have not been able to do...the only difference being he is an upcoming senior! He is having his first expereince with having a gf and yes you are lucky yours has not crossed this bridge yet, lol. It took my son a long time to find a girl he wanted to date...his friends call him picky, lol. He is a very level headed kid...goes through the typical growing pains of course but nothing ever major. We also have a close relationship...I already feel this huge hole forming. He is presently on his very last out of state spring band trip...we have the last concert of the year ahead where he will remain on stage for the "last" time and perform the school song...all the "last ones" are already starting and he is not even a Senior yet.I know he will do just fine after he leaves home...we have also been through tough times together but I think it has made us both better people and no doubt closer then most moms and sons!

Thank you Nanc for putting what I have been feeling and struggling with into will never know how truly good it is to know that someone else is also struggling at having to let go!

I don't know how you are just not in tears at all of those "last" events for your eldest. I'd be a basket case. I still cry when I see him all dressed up! Thanks for sharing my thoughts.
