Do you extend bedtimes at all during the summer months or do you stick to regular bedtimes all year long?

We used to relax the times. But now with him being in high school, he can do what he wants. Since football is runs Mon-Thurs at 6:30 am, I suspect he will go to bed early.

I'm a mean mom I think. LOL! My boys do SO much better with a regular bedtime so we pretty much stay the same all year long. I relax a tad bit, but not too much.

Not mean at all!!  We extended bedtimes during the summer, but they still had them when they were younger.  But, once they got into the teens, I let them stay up, but they have to get up at 9 am, if they did not have anything else going on.  They so often had other obligations, that they could not stay up too late anyway.

I'm a brother to my twin brother (of course!) and brother to my two younger brothers - 4 boys, no sisters. We are all very grown up now!

But I remember a time when my twin and I were about 9/10 years old in long-gone summer days at bedtime. We didn't need to be told to go to bed because it was great fun to go to sleep early when there was still light in the sky and wake up in the morning daylight! No night-time, no darkness, no bad dreams... just the exciting wonder of  an 'everlasting' daytime.

Many years later I heard The Seekers' beautiful lullaby, Morningtime Ride, and it took me back to that time in my boyhood.

"Somewhere there is sunshine,
Somewhere there is day..."

It was a special time and I could make it happen!

What a great memory, Christopher! I can't imagine my boys just going to bed- especially with it still being light outside. I love your description of an 'everlasting' daytime, though. What a magical time indeed!

With the boys being 15 and 17 they don't really have a bedtime in the summer.  They usually stay up late playing video games and then sleep in in the morning.  When they were small, though, I think I kept their bedtimes the same during the summer.
