Her book is controversial because it advocates the AP parenting philosophy which is controversial in our society, especially due to certain practices advocated as part of AP such co-sleeping, baby wearing,

I hope I can get there when our DS is a little older, but right now in the toddler years, I don't feel he's safe enough to leave that alone that long, lol. And we don't have a lock and he's been opening doors since he was about 18 months (he's 2.5 now), so that puts a damper on things for me.

DS was transitioned to his own room around 14 months old because his restlessness would cause DH to start snoring, which would cause me to wake up.

Yeah, nap time will soon be a memory for us too, lol. He's fighting it more and more and taking shorter ones if he actually sleeps at noon or 1pm when we put him down. He was in his own room at 3 months cause he slept better there, so that hasn't been an issue. Things have become less easy to sneak in time now that he's older, but we're finding ways to make it work :)

I think part of it is the more extreme examples of AP are the ones who get the media coverage.
