yesterday i was at the pharmacy and this elderly lady started playing with Vasilis. we started talking about babies in general and i asked her if she had any children. she said yes so i asked how many? she asked me, "are you asking how many children i have, or how many the lord let me keep?" im slow so i didnt get it so i was like "what do you mean?"

she told me she had 7 children but only got to keep 2 because all the others died. 1 set of twins died during child birth, another pregnancy she fell down some stairs and lost the baby at 6 months, 1 baby died 10 days old, and then a miscarriage.

this woman was like 80 years old and was still welling up over it. i cant imagine how it must be to have lost so many children.

i would like everyone here to give their baby an extra hug today.

I wonder if she'd have had those babies today, how many would she have been able to keep with all our medical advances? I know we still lose too many babies today though. :( Thanks for the reminder to hug mine a little closer today!

That's so sad! I can't imagine losing a child, much less 7. :-(

My grandmother talked about the loss of her only daughter until she died. Its not something a mother ever gets over.
