Can my newborn breath in the sling?

Hi- I'm new here and have a question that may seem silly. I made a sling for my newborn that is similar to the Hotsling (it is a lightweight flannel). When she is in it, she burrows down inside (she is a week old) so far that I can't even see her. My question is- could it be dangerous for her to be completely "engulfed" in the sling causing carbon monoxide to build up? My husband seems concerned too so I thought I would ask some BTDT Moms. I can hear her breathing so I know she is okay, but I still wonder if it is safe.

Any comments are appreciated!

Thanks, Christie

I don't really have an answer for you...but I have read from several moms that they put folded receiving blankets in the bottom first to lift the baby higher in the pouch.

My baby does the same thing, I think it is fine. She lets me know if she is uncomfortable! :)

Hi

I use a ring sling and I get comments like that all the time fr pple esp when he's sleeping in there. Just turn her a little so she's not completely facing in to you. She's doing fine and seems to be enjoying your home made sling. Enjoy wearing your baby.
