thinking of buying one for dh for father's day. never saw one in person. seem a bit bulky. are they comfy for baby and dh? easy to use? my dd is almost 9 mo. won't sit in stroller longer than 10 min. used to carry her in new native...at 6 mo she got too squirmy for it. bought a mei hip carrier...too squirmy for that too. now i just carry her 20 lb body around on my hip.

guess this gift is more for me than for dh!! lol!

tia for your feedback!

Hi Lara,

We have a Kelty and DH and James love it. They have used it consistently since we got it when he was about 10 months old and maybe 19 lbs or so. DH loves it and always chooses it over the sling or the stroller. My preference has been the sling but now that he's 15 months and well over 22 lbs (doctor's appt isn't for another few weeks so I don't know how far over), I find that I'm using it more and more. James really likes the height of it (especially when DH is wearing it!)--it gives him a great perch for seeing all the sights on walks. It is a bit bulky and takes some practice to get it on and off without another adult to help you, but once you're used to it, it's great fun and I think especially nice for a DH!

thank you, naomi!

when you have a moment...

i just went onto kelty.com, there are several options. adventure seems to be the fully loaded version, tour seems to be the least. any "must-have" features you'd suggest? they say the pathfinder is the best-selling model.

also, did james everr get "squirmy" in this?

thanks!

No Kelty here, but we do regularly use a frame backpack, and DH especially loves it.

Hey Lara,

Sorry to be responding so late-- just back from being away for the long weekend. We have the base model of the Kelty--so I guess that's the "tour". The one thing that I wish we had for it, now that summer is just about here, is some sort of sun shade attachment. Also, as Elizabeth mentioned with hers, the buckles to strap him in can be a bit hard to reach, but it only adds a few seconds to the process. As to the squirm-factor, James doesn't do too much of that. He LOVES walks though, so he is usually so distracted by all the sights and sounds that I think that cuts down on any squirming!

you're welcome!

decided to go to a store to try them out to decide which one to buy - won't be a surprise, but better off this way...
definitely will need to get the sun shade, as I live in South Florida and the sun is just brutal here! i find myself staying inside out of the sun between 10 and 4, sometimes 5!
