I haven't used an ergo yet- but I plan to buy one in addition to my Maya Wrap. My problem with my kid and the wrap was he was so heavy, so fast and my back isn't great to begin with- so by the time he was six months old it was hard for me to carry him for any length of time. The Ergo also looks more secure to me in say the back position for getting things done around the house. You can always sell it on e-bay or Craig's list when you're done with it and regain some of the cost. Heck, I might buy it off you...

I'm a big fan of the ergo myself, though I haven't used it for a newborn, you have to buy a separate insert for newborns to use it. I used a sling when Heidi was a new born, then a baby bjorn when she got bigger, for shopping with. As she got bigger, she's 6 months now, both carriers really pulled on my shoulders, so I got the ergo, and it's very comfortable. I'm pretty small, and obviously not very strong! I haven't tried the wraps, so can't tell you much about those. If only we could have a carrier party somehow, so everyone could try them out, and figure out what works best for each of us!

Hope this is slightly helpful!
