Just ordered a water wrap!

And I am sooooo excited! I can't wait to get it and take my kids swimming at the pool! It's also my first wrap (I have a Mayawrap sling, KKAFP, Hotsling and Sachi MT) and I can't wait to try it out. I just had to share that with someone and my husband is sick and tired of me talking about carriers (I just got the Sachi MT last week) and none of the other parents I know are babywearers. I figured you ladies might understand my excitement and addiction to baby wearing. Anyhoo.....just so excited!!!!

Nice to know they're others out there like me! The wrap hasn't come yet. :o( I'm really bummed because I leave for a 3 week vacation tomorrow and wanted some time to practice using it, and I wanted to bring it with me. My hubby is meeting me for the last week of vacation, so at the very least I'll have it for one week.

I'll let you know how I like it though, after I've had a chance to use it some. I thought the water wrap might be a good intro to wraps because it's cheaper than the others and seems like it would be easy to sell on thebabywearer.com site if I don't take to wraps.

I see that Random's the same age as Katie - have you started solids yet? I'm visiting family and they keep wanting to know what foods to buy for Katie, and can't quite believe I haven't given her any solids yet. Should be interesting, especially since we're seeing my brother and his wife who have a baby girl 4 months older than Katie. I'm planning on starting when we get back - just easier, ya know. If she's hungry I just have to whip out the boobie ;-) and she's happy. No fussing with bibs, spoons, cleaning her up, making stuff (I do homemade baby food), etc.... My brother's also loaning me some baby stuff and keeps wanting to know if I'm sure I don't want the stroller, cuz "how am I going to manage with two kids and no stroller"? Maybe I'll convert them to babywearing when they see how much easier life is with a sling!

Take care,
Jennifer

p.s. There are a lot of mesh type carriers out there (which you probably know, but in case you don't) - hotslings, mammasmilk, even a MT on sachicarriers.com. And regular slings too. I think some of them have better return policies than gypsymama, so not as much risk ordering online. Nobody in my area sells slings (except for the Babies R Us stuff) so I've had to do a lot of online ordering and most everyone's been great!

I just got a mesh pouch (Mama Kangaroo) a couple weeks ago on eBay, and I really like it! I've tried it in the shower, but haven't gotten to use it at the pool or beach yet. My only other sling is a Maya Wrap ring sling, so I like the versatility of the pouch, too. I know some people think I'm nuts, but I get lots of positive comments, too. The stroller is certainly easier some of the time, but I love my slings!

I have a solarveil sling that you can take in the water. It is really nice for playing in the lake. Just make sure you dry it well sometimes they smell musty.

Amber,

We got back from vacation about a little over a week ago, and I'm finally getting online again. I have to tell you, I absolutely LOVE the water wrap and would highly recommend it! I've worn it walking around humid, hot Baltimore with Katie asleep (for 2+ hours), in a children's museum for a day, at the aquarium, and swimming. It felt wonderful, not bulky or hot and my back was well supported and my shoulders didn't hurt at all. It was great while swimming too - the fabric didn't get water logged or drag at all. The fabric's like thin (but not too thin, obviously) bathing suit fabric. And the great thing was, my shoulders and back were covered by the wrap so I didn't get my usual sunburn on my back (there's always that spot you can't reach by yourself). I felt very safe and confident having both kids in the water with me. And Katie had a blast in the water playing with her big brother! I had her facing out for part of the time, and facing in for the rest of the time.

I loved the water wrap so much that I ordered (and just got a few days ago) an Ellaroo wrap. I think I'm becoming a wrap convert! They're a little time consuming to get on at first, but soooo much more comfortable, especially if I'm going to be carrying Katie for 30 or more minutes. I wish I'd found wraps a long time ago, and hadn't been so intimidated by them. But then I wouldn't have any of my other great carriers!

Hope your upcoming vacation is fun!
