Sling Evangelism!

I have worn Liam in the sling around the office regularly since he was born - I had to come in a few times while I was on maternity leave, he comes to have lunch with me a few times a week, we've been to office-sponsored family functions, etc.

That's great! I love converting people to the joys of babywearing! Hardly anyone in my area (eastern TN) wears their baby and I get a LOT of comments and questions, and I always stop and answer questions. I've seriously thought of making business cards with the web address of and the baby carriers that I have (hotsling, kkafp, and a Sachi MT). Now I always end up looking for paper and pen to write down the websites, and of course I have no problems writing because my hands are free. :o)

I love doing that too! I've been wearing Margaret in her NoJo (I know, I'm probably the only one in the world who still loves this sling) to the boys' school since she was born. When she was tiny, the office staff would see me come in to volunteer with her on vision-screening days, or party days, or what-have-you, and she was tiny, peeking out. Last spring when she was approaching one, I'd wear her to help with the morning chess club, and have continued to do that this year (although not as often, since I'm a little afraid she'll dismantle the school library!). The office staff is always amazed, and they love seeing her in her sling! They loved how cute she was in it when she was tiny, and they just can't believe that we still use it now that she's 30# and almost 2 years old. They've really watched her grow in it. They say something about it almost every time we come in: "Wow, that is a great thing!" "I can't believe she still rides around in there!" I like to think that I am slowly converting them, to see how very flexible and customizable slings are, so that they will buy them for their grandchildren someday!

I'm not currently doing any baby carrying aside from the one in me, 40+ lbs is just too much when I am this exhausted. All the word getting spread about slings that has anything to do with me around here is from a friend carrying her ds in a sling I made for her. I found this really interesting though because dh works with several

Cool! I love when people ask about my slings, too. I wore my ring sling at the Taste of Cincinnati festival, and I got several looks and comments. (Of course, my adorable sleeping baby attracted plenty of attention on her own. ;-) ) I even heard one boy say to his mom, "That's just like the thing Aunt Sarah has." I do have to say that it was also very nice not to have to navigate a stroller through the crowd. DH either carried Megan, or we held her hand as she walked, and it was wonderful.

I just got my mesh pouch sling (which I love, too), and I wore that to library story hour this week. Annie fell asleep in it, and I got several comments again.

I really wish I'd known about slings before Meg was born b/c I think they're the way to go once you get the hang of them.
