And, of course, the "emoticons" (aka "smilies"),

which exist so we can help make the tone and

intent of our words more clear -- after all,

we can't see each other when we're typing and

reading. For example, "You're going to Hawaii?

I hate you!" might be seen as aggressive or

insulting, while, "You're going to Hawaii?

I hate you! ;-)" might be seen as joking,

playful, or friendly teasing. To better

understand them, "read" or view them as

though the left was the top of the head.

:-) The basic smile

:) Minimalist smile

;-) Smile and wink

:-p or :-P Sticking your tongue out (gross; teasing)

:-/ Unsure; apprehensive

:-| Indifferent; not amused

:-( Sad

:-@ Tongue-tied

:-* Pucker up; I just ate a lemon!

>:-< Angry

>:-O Yelling/shouting

O:-) I'm an angel!

}>:-> I'm a devil!

+<:-)+ I'm the pope!

:-# I have braces

B-) I'm a owl; I'm wearing glasses

%-P I've been up all night with the baby . . .

There are dozens more -- be creative!

Feel free to add any of these we may have missed!

Thank you Bill for your help with these!!
