UGH! Bri went to the same daycare for almost 4 yrs w/o any problems. At the beginning of April she came home w/ Lice and come to find out a little girl in her class had it several times before but the school didn't tell the parents nor did the other kids get it. Bri then had it 2 more times before she left the school at the end of May...always because they allowed this one little girl to come back to school and she always had it. The same 4 little girls always ended up w/ it because they were friends, had long hair, etc. What is worse...everytime Bri got it I was right there w/ her since her and I are so close, share combs, she crawls into bed w/ us, etc. I thought we were through....wrong - she has a light case AGAIN!!!! I just went to Walmart and bought 3 cans of spray and 2 bottles of shampoo. I've had it! I've sprayed every piece of furniture in the house, carpet in places where she plays, curtains, mattresses, plus the car, etc. I'm on my 3rd load of laundry and have at least 2 more to go! What are we missing and why does she keep getting it?? The 1st time we put all her stuffed animals in trash bags and they are still in the attic. She had a few of her favorites still in her room....they are now in trash bags also. I'm going to have to wash her pillow case, sheets, etc. every night until this is gone. It's been 2 months...I don't understand! I feel like my house is so dirty :(

You need to call the school and make sure they are doing all of the same 'treatments' that YOU are doing. It's not going to help if daycare isn't fixing the problem. A notice SHOULD go out to ALL parents of children in the school notifying them that lice has been found and how to treat it. If this doesn't happen, you need to get in touch with the local health department and let THEM know what's going on.

HUGS. Lice are a pain. I treated my son every other day for 6 weeks until I was sure the school (kindergarten) had gotten it taken care of!

Oh my goodness YIKES! We have never had to deal with this (Thank God) but we had friends that did. They like to have never gotten rid of it. It took months. They finally consulted a professional to help them. I think it was either the Pediatrician or Pharmacist who gave them some advice on how to completely get rid of them.

What a nightmare. I feel so sorry for you.

I was lurking & saw your plea for help. I'm the mother of a 7 1/2 yr old dd. Last summer she attended a summer reading camp at school a couple days a week where she brought home the dreaded lice!! I know exactly how you feel - we could not get rid of it no matter what we did. Some of her stuffed animals are still in confinement in the bags in the basement. We sprayed & washed & washed ect.We threw out every pillow in our house & after 3 months of this on & off I was considering all of the furniture too. It's very embarassing but I finally called her doctor in tears & they called in medicine for her head to our drug store.I of course like you always had it along w/ her which was even worse. The way the doc explained it to me is that some of the over the counter medicine isn't working anymore- the lice are immune to it.Great huh?I was not ammused.Have faith though, you will get it gone eventually. If you want you can e-mail me at Ginsworld95@aol.com I can relate totally.

Good Luck,
