will let your daughter listen too are do you let her listen to anything that is on? Do you have any certain types you won't allow? Any particular artists you won't allow?

It hasn't been an issue so far. She is 8 and is pretty much interested in top 40 pop stuff which I don't have a problem with. She is into Avril Lavigne these days. At this point I would probably forbid something like Eminem which I think sends a really bad message, and also I don't like his music so it serves two purposes. LOL She did seem to think she had a thing for Blink 182 so I looked them up and I thought they were way inappropriate for a 7 year old, so I said no way. But once she's older, 11 or 12 I don't think I would necessarily forbid any music, but I wouldn't necessarily buy it with my money. She is going to hear it from friends and on MTV and wherever else anyway, but that doesn't mean I have to spend my money on it.

Right now, she's pretty much stuck listening to what I listen too. I won't let her older brother (He'll be 16 in September) play his stuff in the car when the girls are there. She's really into the Uncle Kracker song Drift Away, and she likes 3 Doors Down. I of course don't let her listen to anything with foul language in it.

DD has grown to like all types of music thanks to the wide variety that we listen to. She likes country, hard rock, 80s hair bands (my fault!), jazz, and hard rock/heavy metal. At 3 yrs old she knew all the words to Meatloaf's 'Two out of three ain't bad' thanks to DH! We now listen to alot of the newer Hard Rock (Trapted, Rob Zombie, etc.) and she loves the beat. She knows some of the words and knows what she can say and not say. She is not into the 'top 40' much because we don't listen to it but she has her Kidz Bop CDs, etc. and likes them. I'm sure her music taste will change as she moves into kindergarten!
