Hi , I am new member and am totally freaked out. I am so upset that I can barely write.

Just now, I was cuddling my 5 yr old daughter and discovered two quarter size bald spots in her head. She has beautiful thick healthy hair. She is perfectly healthy , happy , normal child .I never saw these before. I am so freaked out to see it in my beautiful baby that I cannot tell you. I hope it does not spread. I am going to make her doctor's appointment forst thing on Monday. But meanwhile, please somebody tell me anything you know about the subject? Has anybody seen it in their family. Is there a treatment. What should I expect? Where should I look for information and advise? She goes swimming and can this be due to some infection? Please help.

Thank you so much.

Yikes Ella! I don't have any experience with this type thing. Could she have cut her own hair or somehow got into some cleaning supplies and maybe spilled them on herself? I am very interested to know what is going on with that. Please keep us posted.

I took her to the pediatrician today and he thinks it is alopecia. I believe it has no cure. He has referred her to a dermatologist. I hope she has some definite diagnosis and treatment options. I am so sacred I can't tell you. Although not life threatening, it is a daunting proposition for a little girl to face. Please keep your fingers crossed for us.

Oh yikes!! Isn't that where a person would loose hair? Do they know what would cause that? Is it some sort of genetic thing? Please let us know about it as soon as you find out.
