I lie in the Chicago burbs, and believe me, it was the talk of the town for a while. It is outrageous!! Talk about government overstepping their boundries!! I am so glad that my kids came home from school for lunch from 1st through 5th grades. Our schools don't even offer hot lunches until 6th anyway. My kids now in 7th and 11th grades still take a lunch. I would be in the pricipal's office every single day if that were the case at our schools. Why not just take the baby at the hospital and have the "village" raise it!?!?!?

I must admit that I'm not sure about what they were trying to accomplish.

This seems to go right along with how our government is doing these days. And I absoutely do not agree. DD10 has bought lunch at school maybe 2 or three times in the over three years that I've known them. I think most of the children that eat school lunches in our community are from families that need a little extra help and we have programs that pay for the lunches for them. So that they get to eat lunch. I think it's time for people to stop and think. Where has common sense gone.

I think it's a bad idea.

Actually, some schools are doing dinners now for working parents and all CPS students

By requiring that you get a school lunch are they looking for more money as the government provides subsidies for all school lunches.....low income or not.
