December.jpgIt's a Wonderful Life Film Premiere
- America’s favorite Christmas drama premiered on this date at New York, NY in 1946. Directed by Frank Capra and starring James Stewart (as George Bailey), Donna Reed (as Mary Bailey), Henry Travers (as Clarence Oddbody, trying to earn his angel wings) and Lionel Barrymore (as villainous Mr Potter), the film was nominated for five Academy Awards.

National Sangria Day
- Sangria is a popular drink at bars, pubs, and restaurants in Portugal, Spain, and Mexico, and throughout the United States. But at one point it was illegal to serve sangria in the state of Virginia! It violated an obscure 75 year-old law that forbid the mixing of wine or beer with spirits. Violators of this law could be charged with a misdemeanor, a hefty fine, and up to a year in jail. It was not until 2008 that the Virginia General Assembly finally legalized the serving of sangria due to public outcries about the law.

Go Caroling Day
- It's all about singing door to door in celebration of the Christmas Season! This holiday celebrates carols of the past by dressing up in period costume and celebrating this holiday by going door to door singing Christmas carols as a caroling group.

Sacagawea Day
- As a young Shoshone Indian woman, Sacagawea in 1805 (with her two-month-old son strapped to her back) traveled with the Lewis and Clark expedition, serving as an interpreter. It is said that the expedition could not have succeeded without her aid.

International Human Solidarity Day
- established by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2005 as an initiative in the fight against poverty. A day of action to encourage new initiatives for poverty eradication.

Mudd Day
- A day to remember Dr. Samuel A. Mudd (born near Bryantown, MD, Dec 20, 1833), sentenced to life imprisonment for giving medical aid to disguised John Wilkes Booth, fleeing assassin of Abraham Lincoln. Imprisoned four years before being pardoned by President Andrew Johnson.

Games Day
- a yearly run convention sponsored by Games Workshop, it has its origins in 1975, following the indefinite shelving of another games convention scheduled for August that year and a decision by Games Workshop to fill the resulting gap by running a gaming day of their own. As a result, after some delays, the first Games Day was held at Seymour Hall, London on December 20, 1975.

Humbug Day
- A day that allows everyone preparing for Christmas to vent their frustrations. Scrooges all over have been waiting for this day, and come out of the woodwork in great numbers. They go far beyond venting a few frustrations. Many scrooges are negative towards Christmas in general, and can put a real damper on your Christmas spirit.
