or do you let someone else haul you around? Are you confident in your ability or are you a nervous wreck and only chance it when you HAVE to?

I love to drive... We have done a few driving vacations and I love it.. Ice and snow..well here if I didn't drive we wouldn't get out of the house.. Its winter here 8 months of the year..lol..

I'm a pretty good driver...My dh hates to drive.. he'll do the Hwy driving b/4 but will not drive in the City where he doesn't know where he's going..

Not too sure about half the town where I live.. OMG they scare me.. most are over 70 and shouldn't be driving..lol..

I'm very confident driving in ice and snow. I won't go very far if the roads arent salted or plowed though. Usually, I do just fine, and am not scared at all.

Well, is that a topic close to my heart right now!

I would have said yes, I am totally comfortable driving on snow and ice up until yesterday.

On Sunday, I drove 4 1/2 hours through a snow and ice storm without sliding even once.

Monday, I drove through more snow and ice without a problem.

Wednesday morning the realtor called and wanted to show my house. I left my house so the realtor could bring the buyer over. I got 1/4 of a mile from my house and hit a tree head on and ruined my van. NOone was hurt except my van. $3,000 worth of damage and my insurance goes up. And, I had to take the sheriff, tow truck, 4 crying kids, brother-inlaw and myself back to my house WHILE the realtor was there. It was both hysterically funny and awful at the same time.

My road is gravel and the ruts of snow and ice melted, froze, melted, froze solid. I hit a rut and it threw me into a tree. The kids were terrified. Now I am nervous about driving on my road.

I called the road department and SCREAMED at them. They came out 2 times yesterday and once today to cinder my road. (I live WAY out in the country, so they usually never bother).

AAAAACK!! That's just horrible!!! Thank God no one was hurt. What a nightmare. I guess it could have been so much worse though. How did the house showing go?
