Lizzie has been a collector of stuffed animals since she was born and has refused until now to get rid of them.  Today I learned something . Lizzie is FINALLY getting rid of all of her stuffed animals. Instead of just giving them to Goodwill or trashing them.....or trying to sell them in a yard sale I have called the nursing homes in our area as well ...as the 2 youth homes and found out which ones take them and which ones don't. We will go through them and be taking our donations next week to the facilities that will accept them. Just a thought in case you have a bunch in your house that you want to get rid of.....and you want them to go to a loving home and be of further good use! Do you know of any other organizations in your community that will take stuffed animals???  If so share here!  I am so happy that our animals will be going to a good and loving home.....and still continue to serve a useful purpose instead of just being sold somewhere!

Ooh, the nursing homes are a good idea! I had a huge collection of stuffed animals when I was kid and even though I have boys, they have taken after me. My oldest DS is 13 and I keep thinking "any day now" that he'll be ready to get rid of them but nope! Collection is still going strong. :smileyindifferent:

I  called the nursing homes and youth homes in the area and they are willing to take them off my hands.  Now to sort them and get them out of the house!  Between Mike's and Lizzie's (she ended up getting Mike's too!) we have a ton.  Took 2 bags to bible school to give them to the kids there.  I'm sure that I'm not on the hit parade of a few moms....who's kids wanted one and they didn't want them to have any more), but if was nice seeing the kids that had them so happy!

I thought of a place! Vietnam Veterans of America will take almost anything AND they will come pick up at your door!

Now I just gotta wait for my kids to outgrow them, lol.
