We have rifle teams here too. Guns are very much a part of life in Alaska. Many many people hunt!! I can't say I know how to shoot, but I could if I had too. Our local University has one of those ski and shoot teams (sorry - can't remember what it's called) and they do really well. Some of the team members have gone on to do this in the Olympics. Very exciting!!
Yes!! Dh has his FOIT card a handgun. I am not good at shooting with a handgun, but LOVE shooting a rifle and archery. My eyes have gotten bad and I have trouble sighting now. I was on a the rifle team every year at summer camp and even had won some tournaments there. Ds has won a bunch of Boy Scout awards for his target shooting as well.
My dad and uncle had a working cattle ranch, we all had to know how to handle firearms by the time we started school. It was in case we ever needed to put an injured animal down, when there were no adults around. I can also field dress a quadriped if necessary, I however, tend to buy my meat from the butcher. LOL! But should Armegeddon ever happen, I can take out a deer and process it, if I have to.
No.
I must admit that the answer is no.
Ramona Mom to 2 great kids and wife to one wonderful hubby since 1990!
I actually got certified as an archery instructor when I was a Girl Scout leader so that our girls could do archery.
