Reporting a 1st Grade Teacher

I am trying to obtain information regarding escalating a complaint against an mental and verbally abusive teacher at my son's school. Apparently, i am not the 1st to complain about her and my son's school has not done anything about it. I found out that the school assured the last parent who complained that this teacher was 1 complaint away from being terminated. I complained after her and nothing has been done. Supposedly this teacher is 1 complaint away from being fired. I complained and nothing! I would like for this teacher to be disciplined and or removed. The things that she has done to her students, including my son are horrible and i cannot allow any other innocent little 1st grader to go through that. Can anyone offer any information as to where and how i can escalate this? I have already spoken to the school's principle and she promised someone would follow up with me but that never happened. It seemed as if she just wanted me to sweep the issue under the rug and keep mum about everything but i can and will not. Thank you!

I believe its going to depend on what state you are in as different states have different procedures. I would start by calling your school district's main office and ask what the procedures are when nothing is done and no follow up is done about a complaint about a teacher. At the same time, I would also call your state education department, they should have a general inquiries department and you can discuss with them your concerns and ask them for guidance.
