Mariana by Susanna Kearsley

I really enjoyed this book.  My favorite parts were the scenes in the past.  I was surprised and a bit confused about how it ended b/c as the reader you being led to believe certain things.  Don't want to spoil it though ;-)  I'd recommend this to anyone who likes historical fiction/romance.
