Hi all - Hoping someone of you other great and talented folks can help me here. At some point in my life I have seen a great poem or article about having your father's name is precious, so don't mess up so that your family name has a bad reputation. Does ANYONE know anywhere on-line I can see a copy of this poem? I need it for a nephew and wouldn't hurt to start to drill it into my kids too! LOL!

Thanks all, Debbie in Illinois

Sounds like something I would like to read as well, but sorry, haven't seen it before.

I found it elsewhere on-line!

Family Name

You got it from your father

It was all he had to give.

So it's yours to use and cherish

For as long as you may live.

If you lost the watch he gave you

It can always be replaced;

But a black mark on your name

Can never be erased.

It was clean the day you took it

And a worthy name to bear.

When he got it from his father

There was no dishonor there.

So make sure you guard it wisely

After all is said and done.

You'll be glad the name is spotless

When you give it to your son.
