12- What Are You Doing? by Elisa Amado

A book about an inquisitive little boy.

Description:

It’s the first day of school, but before he goes Chepito runs outside to play. He comes across all kinds of people in his neighborhood — a man reading a newspaper, a young girl enjoying a comic, a couple of tourists consulting a guidebook, an archeologist studying hieroglyphics… “Why, why, why?” he sings, and they each have an answer for him. Later that day Chepito discovers for himself that reading is catching, and he even brings home a book to “read” to his younger sister.

13- Wave by Suzy Lee

This book has no words so it allowed DD to make up her own story =)

Description:

In this evocative wordless book, internationally acclaimed artist Suzy Lee tells the story of a little girl's day at the beach. Stunning in their simplicity, Lee's illustrations, in just two shades of watercolor, create a vibrant story full of joy and laughter.

14- Cow by Malachy Doyle

After Amber had this book read to her she made her own cow using paper plates and cut outs.

Description:

It's hard work being a cow - you graze, you chew, and you rest. This picture book tells of a day in the life of a cow, from the dawn rising and that early morning walk to the barn to be milked, through the hot summer's day, to the evening milking and dusk. Rinaldi's beautiful lifelike illustrations give a real sense of being there.

9- Too Busy Marco by Roz Chast

A cute story about a bird that doesn't want to go to bed!  DS can relate as plenty of times we find him awake when he should be sleeping!

Description:

It's time for bed again, and Marco, a small red bird who lives with his (human) mother and father, simply has too much to do! He's got masterpieces to paint, underwater inventions to create, halfpipes to skate -- or better yet, inventions to create so that he can paint underwater while skateboarding at a world-class level! How can it possibly all get done? When one idea builds on top of another, and every object he encounters just screams inspiration, why would Marco ever want to put on his pajamas and brush his beak? With humor and a great deal of energy, this delightful new character from acclaimed illustrator Roz Chast will rev kids up and wear them out--just in time for bed.
