I have been in a big reading slump for the past couple of months. Too many things have been going on in my life for me to be able to focus well. I am hoping that the major thing will be resolved in the next week or two. I just started reading Standing in the Rainbow by Fannie Flagg. I have enjoyed her other books so I am hoping that I can get into this one.

I hate slumps....was in one for a while myself. Ended up reading something I would never have read before, and that sure helped.

I am finally out of my reading slump. I think it has been at least a couple of months. I started several books and had trouble getting into them. I just finished "The Last Girls" by Lee Smith and it seems to have helped me break my slump. "The Last Girls" is about 5 girls who built a raft and floated down the Miss. River when they were in college. Then they go on sort of a reunion, 35 years later, on a Riverboat down the Miss. to spread the ashes of one of the girls.

I just started "Reading Lolita in Tehran" by Azar Nafisi. It is pretty good so far. It is a memoir about a college professor in Iran who quits teaching at the university after the Ayatollah comes to power. She starts a reading group with 7 of her former female students. They read and discuss forbidden works of Western literature like Lolita.
