I really liked this. I had assumed it was just another book about women's friendships. I didn't know it had all the backstories of lost loves. A bit weird how the story of Patty Jane's dh turned out, but OK. I had wondered all along what had happened to him. I've read several of Landvik's books & loved them all.

I read this book in 2005 or 2006 and really enjoyed it. I've read this one and Angry Housewives. Just curious, have all the other books you've read by her been sad? I'd like to read her again but my bf laughs and me when I start crying, LOL.

I also agree that the what happened with Patty Jane's husband was a bit weird.

The only other one I've read besides Housewives is Tall Pine Polka. There are some sad things in it--lost love, a sort of a betrayal by a friend, one death--but overall it's not sad. It's her trademark group of odd characters, but goes off in an unusual direction.

I want to read Your Oasis on Flame Lake, but haven't been able to get it at my library yet.
