We camp all summer at the Missouri river...and this year the lady that always has scads of flowers didn't so that left taking pictures of the water in the river....with the flood this year it was interesting for us but for other people it is rather boring.

So my photos this year were not that exciting...lol

Thank you,

Sometimes I have even taken to the nursery in the winter to get some flowers. I think that is nice of them since I don't buy anymore...lol

While I did get some good flood pictures they are only interesting to those of us that know the area...

They built the dam in 1954 and my folks brought the family up several times while it was going up and they were changing the flow of the river. I have been coming here to fish and in later years camping since then....But if you have never been here before this is just boring....lol

That's really cool. Your family story with the dam. I think that's neat!! :0) and I don't think there is anything boring about moving water! so powerful.

my flower pictures are actuallyl both weeds. The one with the bee is fireweed and is one of my favorites. I'll try to post a picture of a full one instead of a close up. and the other one is called vetch. It's really invasive and can kill your trees if we're not careful to keep it tamed. It's seems really good too.

I think your photos are beautiful....

Over the years I have people pictures and been the picture taker for when the families were in one spot for a while..lol But most of the when some of the family saw my other pictures they would say things like ....."OH, you took pictures of trees" or "Did you know those were weeds?"

So I would show them the people ones and keep the others to myself...

I have some that I thought were pretty good, different or very strange.....but I kept them to myself till I got the computer....lol....

I still laugh when I told someone I thought a photo was neat and they told me that I had taken a picture of cow parsnips.....like geech why did you do that.....so what I say...lol

Thank you!!
That's funny. But now that I think about it, I have some people that don't say much when my "weed" pictures are out to view. I guess I've just not had someone come right out and ask why I took a picture of something. But you are right. Some people prefer pictures of people or at least animals. :0)

I am in no way perfect... so far away it isn't even funny....but I have had to set through pictures people have taken at our reunions etc, and not being able to tell whose reunion it was... mainly because they had to have so much in the picture that the people were not seen...I don't go for the scene when I get people like the older ones for sure...I get in there and try to get chest up pictures so we know who they are.

I get a lot of flack for cutting people in half...but I don't care what they were wearing so much I want to see the person so I get candid shots as well.....as the stand still and smile ones...lol....

But I have fun,,,

My dad paid me a compliment years ago when we were going through old photos and everyone would ask who that was becuase there was nothing on the back of them to tell who they were....he said that he thought that because I always wrote on the back of mine that was "a very smart thing to do, I wish everyone would have done that over the years"

I'm so with your about being far from perfect. It can be so frustrating at times. Sometimes I feel that if I could just get some more time with my camera, I'd remember the stuff I'm learning more because I'm actually using it.

I wish I were better about writing on the back as well. This winter might be a bit more quiet for me. We will see. It might mean that I have some time to scrapbook and journel and yes, write on the back of my pictures.
And I agree that those far away shots are kind of useless when it comes to people shots. There is a way to take a picture with a persons entire body and still be able to see their faces. :0) My Mom's family has a bunch of really old tin photos and no one knows their names because no one bothered to write them down. It's really sad!
