Yes! My little tiny baby is celebrating her 5th birthday today!! How does that happen?!? We're having a few kiddos over for cake & games and then 2 of the girls will be sleeping over. :smileyvery-happy: I think I'm more excited than she is. HA!

That's about it for today!!

We slept in a bit.
Got up and started laundry.
Put veggie beef soup in the crock pot.
We are getting ready to go get the parts we need to finish the shelving in the troop trailer.
I need to work in the garden today.
and scrap I hope. My cardstock finally came and I can finish Wills Philmont brag book for him to take to work.

Ah .....

today I start the move back to reality.

I've done general housekeeping in the kitchen and dining room while watching the Olympics, and I've folded socks.

I need to prep food for the coming week and look at my schedule for the week ... if I'm remembering correctly, I've written myself off on Wednesday because I have to work on Thursday evening and all day on Saturday.

I need to listen to a song I've been asked to do for a play on September 2nd at the church

figure out my niece's birthday present ... I went to the computer to pull up a sample, and it was created in Word Perfect.  Ugh.  I don't have that anymore.  So now I need to look for the file of hard copies.  I've seen it ... the question is, does it have the one I need in it?

Need to take the sheets off the bed and wash them and put fresh sheets on.

Note to MJ and Stacy:  I added flaxseed to my oatmeal today.  Not bad.  Also plan to make some brown rice I can put in the fridge and pull out a little at a time through the week.  When you're used to making Minute Rice, an hour plus to make rice feels like ten forevers!  Brooke is on her way with All Star, though, and she has a FANTASTIC recipe for brown rice.  I may get her input.

Also .... a little note ... Ihad a headache yesterday I couldn't get rid of.  I realized last night I had had NO caffeine in two whole days.  No tea ... sweetened or otherwise ... and no Diet Pepsi.  And I'm not likely to have any today either, so it's POSSIBLE that I could be on my way to kicking the habit .........

and P.S.  LOVING the rhythmic gymnastics!  A-MAZ-ING!

YYYYAAAAAAAAAYYYY On the no caffiene. DON'T Go back! All that headache would be for nothing! wooooo!

As for the flazseed, those are slippery little suckers - grind or pulverize them (food proccesor, coffee grinder, something) or they'll go right through. Just sayin'!

Also, get a rice cooker. I got one so we could make perfect rice balls (sticky rice), but I love it for brown rice too. Still takes 40 minutes, but comes out perfect every time! Decent and not too pricy at Target.

Jill, that sounds lovely! Enjoy the sleepover - I LOVE having my girls friends over - so many great memories for them. (and it's nice when they go home too. So many people tell me I'm nuts to have sleepovers with multiple girls, but they all have fun and I know they will eventually go home, I like the loud giggles. )

Stacy - hope the shelving went well and you are home scrapping! Have you found any good flight possibilities? Seriously, the cost is usually around $25-30 per day for Friday/Saturday (one meal/day, scrap kit, several prizes daily and a discount on your tab - last prize of the day is usually your tab) and Sunday is usually $15 or so for 5 hours including prizesand discount but no meals.

SO. I was up late last night: stayed at the band picnic watching the volleyball and talking to various parents because Mira made some friends/played on an empty sand volleyball court and didn;t want to leave. Then I stayed up late covering the rest of the pink in the girls room.

Just 1.2 walls to do a second coat on and then do the glaze/wash. Which I plan to do tonight so we can put the room back together tomorrow.

We slept LATE. I made muffins while sarah went to her percussion lesson.

Then I left the house and DH built most of the pieces of the compost bin for the school (he is off picking up a few 4x4's for the corners and the bookshelf I purchased).

The girls & I went:

  • to their back-to-school trims,
  • 1. picked up a few things at World market,
  • 2. got Natasha's shattered ipod screen fixed - replaced actually - sdropped on it on vacation and she just had 2 babysitting jobs so could afford it. SHE's happy now!
  • 3. Went in a few stores looking for birthday gifts for sarah's friend who is into owls and Japanese stuff (they are having sushi for dinner tonight).
  • 4. Got Sarah a phone Aahhhhh! But almost every day now there is a time where I wish I could contact her, including this morning after her lesson when she was walking home but this will also be a big part of her birthday present. SHE is very happy too!
  • 5. Shopped for a new bookshelf for the girls room. We are paring down books, but I still want less on the top of the room shelves - they are so heavy! and there will be schoolbooks, etc. As I said, DH is picking that up now, so we'll move it in the room tomorrow!
  • 6. Stopped at Target as Mira has been asking for a week to spend some of her allowance on new Pokemon cards. Now she is happy too.
  • Me, I just need quiet. I was going to run to Hobby Loby for a few more glass jars (now at 50% to put the shells in on their shelf, but I dunno. Maybe when I take Sarah to the sleepover?

Ah ... I actually have one. Don't know how to cook brown rice in it, but I have oen! LOL Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand ... I have to find it. Cowboy used it last. Where on EARTH did he put it? ugh.

And I bought the flaxseed already ground. :smileyhappy:

Went to town to get a birthday present for Dad and one for my niece. Did NOT stop for a soda. Took ice water. I'm trying. (I'm not LIKING it, but I'm TRYING.)
