Hi Jill - sorry about the relationship. I saw your FB post come through. But your photo is adorable :). Hang in there! Stacy - yay for a day off to do what you need to do - and not smelling like smoke! Hiya Karen :). Sounds like a good weekend - and good Monday? Lauren, how was the craft fair?

Yes, you count time! because if, at some point, you start to sell them as a business instead of just a little bit of profit off of relaxation then you'll need to raise prices. No, include the time now. Take the time and price out the supplies then - one piece of CS, what are paper bags, what is the average cost of a paper pad in that size? You can always adjust if you find yourself using significantly more expensive products later on. The standard for billing used to be 2.5 times the time/cost of a product/project - that counts for taxes, overhead, insurance, etc. In your case - time, etc. I think now the formula is something like 3 times the cost? You should also build in your listing fees and shipping. The relaxation part? That is a bonus, making money doing something you LOVE. There is nothing wrong in doing that you know, and you should be compensated for your time. ALL of it!

LOL Thanks, Karen! I have no idea what kind of cost there is involved. The front panel is 1/6 (?)  of a 12 x 12 page from a book of pages. The lace was given to me. I can't remember how much the cardstock was, but it came in a package as well. I probably got at least half a dozen tags and signing blocks from one sheet. How do you quantify ink and/or adhesive? And of course, there are the lunch sacks bought so long ago I have no EARTHLY idea what I paid for them. I suck at this! LOL It takes me about fifteen minutes to put together one card. Not counting time, maybe fifty cents a card? MAYBE? I'm not even sure there is that much. And can you really count time? I kind of figure the time is my relaxation. If this was my source of income, I would see it differently, but I'm afraid if I charged for time, I'd charge myself right out of selling them. I could do the individual or packet prices. Do you REALLY think I could get $2/card? Holy cow!

I finally don't smell like campfire smoke. now I am going to do homework. I have alot to get done for tomorrow and I am going to do a ton of laundry and cleaning today as well. I hope to have everything done before scouts tonight so that I can just relax after. Take care everyone.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} Construction going on everywhere in your life, isn't there, Jill? But you're right ... on all accounts, actually. I'm sorry for your loss. But the friendship may heal in time. Integrity costs more and takes longer. Love you!

I'm sorry things didn't work out Jill! But yeah, better to realize that now than later.

LOL, by the time I got to where I could post, I completely forgot about your cards!  Sorry.  They are beautiful!  I think you should come up with a standard price per card and then discounted price if they buy x cards.  like $2/card or their choice $10/6 cards (or buy 5 get one free!).  How much do you think you have in the card for time and supplies?

Good morning. Our first tournament is here - started arriving on Saturday. The building is NOT ready & there's plastic over half the windows downstairs... lol. That's what we get for being ambitious and trying to open before November. Annnnnnnd, the "new boy" is no longer. A little sad, but I'm walking away with my integrity before it was too serious to not get hurt. It's a shame he chose to ruin a 15-year friendship, though. I will miss that. So, that's my story... LOL. Better get back to work before someone notices my absence! :D <3

Whew!  Had to log in this morning and it looked like it wasn't going to let me post.  But I'm in.

Had a good weekend.  Fun time shopping with my mom on Friday, although she only ended up buying one thing and when she got home it didn't fit where she had planned it.  Friday night Sarah went to a confirmation team building thing.  Emilee and I did more shopping at a shopping center that was new to us.  It is kind of far from home, but would be worth going to occasionally.

Saturday morning, up early to get Sarah from her sleepover.  They had the first game of their volleyball tournament at 10 and won.  The team then went to lunch at Subway before the second game at 1.  Unfortuantely, they lost that game, so that was the end of the season.  After the game we took Em to a birthday party sleepover!

Sunday we went to church, picked up Em, and had Sarah's birthday lunch at Joe's Crab Shack.  Then we stopped at the mall to get her ears double-pierced (second set of holes).  That was all she wanted for her birthday.  Em had one act from 3-7.  I worked on laundry, cleaning, and reviewing photos.

Today, I have to leave work at 3:00 to pick up the girls from school as the other carpool mom is out of town until late tonight.  Will probably work from home a bit after, although I might just try to make up time later in the week.  Will see how the day goes.

DWTS and Castle after supper!
