What's going on this weekend??
Jill, can your mom take kitties and a dog too?
Becca, sounds like you're having a fun weekend!
Me: The usual. My sis' birthday is coming up on Tuesday but we are celebrating on Monday, so the book, will, hopefully be done by then, or at least mostly done. Obviously I wasn't able to throw her a surprise party. I wish I could have but what I thought was coming through didn't, so that's out. I feel bad b/c I wanted so bad, but I could totally throw her off and do it later this year.
So mostly scrapping, listing on Etsy and I'll be cleaning some too.
Good Morning! It is a beautiful cool Fall day. Jill, have fun playing and with yoru peace . Becca I know, you'll have fun, you always do. Glad the school year is starting out so well, I hope it stays that way!
Volleyball games were exciting last night, followed by a junk food fest at Hickory Park (I only ate a few cheese balls and sweet potato fries).
Good Piano lesson this morning - starting several completely new fun pieces, so I am excited about that. Sarah had her percussion lesson, Tasha has a rescheduled guitar lesson later this afternoon. We are working on several clean-up projects in & out and DH & I are going to assemble the school compost bin over at the school as it's been set up in the driveway for several weeks now, we just haven't had the time until now.
I am going to do a lot of work outside, watch as much of the Iowa/Iowa State Football game as I can stand to, and play in my scrap area tonight.
Jill, have fun tonight on your kid-free evening. I guess we had one of those last night. I went shopping.
Becca, hope the house cleaning goes quiick! Have fun with your roomie when they get there.
Lauren, good luck with your scrapping.
Michelle, hope the game is not too tense.
It's already been a long morning here. Em had to be at the high school at 8:30 for cross country. I came home and ate breakfast, then headed back up to pick her up at 9:15. Took her and a friend to another friend's house on the far west side of Omaha, then hurried back home to pick up Sarah and DH. They were waiting for me on the corner. We just made it to Sarah's game in time (they are penalized if they are not there 20 minutes before the game is scheduled to start). They played really well again today, against a tougher team than last week (when most of the points were scored on the serve; very little volleying). We won the first game pretty easily, lost the second in a close match, and won the third 18-16 (I think; may have been 19-17). 2-0 for the season so far!
By the time we got back from that, it was lunch time. Now I need to get the laundry going and then groceries. I'd kind of like to take a nap. My throat is sore and I am just tired.
Got up yesterday morning and finished loading the van for the day.
Ate breakfast and got food together.
Got in the van and remembered I would probably need tape for a sign. I did. It was breezy. Came back in for the tape. Set off the alarm. Waited for them to call to give the all clear. Reset the alarm. Left.
Got down the road and remembered I'd forgotten my phone. Turned around. Came home. Got the phone.
Chewed Cowboy out for attitude when I had asked if he could help me a little at the festival.
Dropped Cowboy off at the farm.
Got to town fifteen minutes later than I intended. Not a good start to the day.
But it turns out a whole lot of people were later than me, so that was fine.
Found my spot, and started setting up. Two guys from another stand came over voluntarily and helped me with the shade when they saw me struggling with it by myself.
Had a BEAUTIFUL day ... sunny, but not too much ... breezy, but not too much.
I knitted baby hats while I sat. Sold a few CDs ... not as many as I had hoped by a LONG shot, but at least it's out there again, and maybe there will be domino sales? ("Oh, I liked this so much I have to get one for ...") (I can hope.)
Ice Dancer came for a couple of hours and relieved me, so I could work in the after prom stand. Got some pointers about carbs while I was in there. Not sure it was entirely good advice, but it helped me to even think about it, and I just looked up more info on the Internet (how many per day/meal? avoiding spikes, etc.).
Ice Dancer got me food on both sides of working in the other stand, and gave me bathroom breaks, which helped.
Then waited out the rest of the day. One of Cowboy's best friends (a female friend ... not a "girlfriend" ... but OH, how I would not be disappointed if she was!), came over and asked if I needed help at the end of the night. God bless that girl! That gave me an opportunity to use the bathroom again, get the van moved closer to my spot for reloading, and to start packing up the extraneous stuff (it had gotten too dark to knit, and I had taken MANY more cds than I needed to), so that when the festival ended, finishing was a breeze.
Waited for my deposit check.
Walked in the door, took my bp meds, and Red said, "Come on, [Cowboy], let's unload." I said, "I am not putting it away tonight. I do not have the energy." He said they'd bring it in anyway. All I could hope was that they would put it away, because I was NOT dealing with it. I said, "I'm going to bed. I'm exhausted." Went to bed, and went to SLEEP. They did ... put it away ... I guess .. it's not in the Great Room. I haven't ventured beyond that.
Woke up about quarter to 2 and haven't been back to sleep. *sigh* Youth Quest and Bell Choir start tonight. I'm going to wish I had been sleeping.
Worship this morning.
YQ and Bell Choir tonight. Fortunately, the YQ worship ppt is done an the sermon is ready ... even TYPED ... insane! .... and all I have to do is create the route for the van ministry team, but I'm supposed to have a new rider that I don't have an address for yet, so I can't really complete that task until I get the information. Otherwise, we're good to go.
So ... all in all ... frustrations notwithstanding, it's probably a good weekend. Could have been better. Could have been worse.
Trying to remember everyone's posts ....
Karen-- YEA for a volleyball win! (and for volleying .. much more interesting game that way!)
MJ -- YEA for time to work on the project in the driveway!
Becca -- YEA for college friend visits and a good start to the school year!
Lauren -- YEA for birthdays! And hey ... I meant to tell you this the other day: For Red's 50th birthday a year ago, you may remember we sent out invitations to send him 50 things via my office. They didn't have to be things that cost money ... there were things across the spectrum in price, but there were also jokes, which cost nothing but the paper on which they were typed, and the stamp to send it. We then had a small family dinner, and let him open them, and he LOVED it. You could do *that* for your sister sometime, but frankly, ... I think the scrapbook is a WONDERFUL gift! And for my brother's birthday, I downloaded and burned to cd, the number one songs for each year from the year of his birth to the day of his 40th birthday. I loved that the number one song on that day was Carley Jepson's "Call Me, Maybe"! Amazon has mp3's for about a dollar each.
Got Jill already ... but thought I'd add that having grandkids for the weekend is not likely to EVER get old ... especially when those grandkids are as stinkin' adorable as Rosie and Sean!
I think that's everyone. Where IS that Stacy?
Catch you all tomorrow~
I hope you have time for a nap Julie. You are going to need it! Yay for some sales, and wonderful help. So... what are you saving your sales $$ for?
Karen, I hope you also managed a nap .
A LOT accomplished yesterday. The compost bin is now set up in a corner of the garden at the school, and I cleared out the gardens on the front & side of the house - they have been neglected for a long time, so my house now looks presentable again. We had dinner in the yard and then played after - that's something else we haven't done forever.
Today went well. N ended up not singing (DH was not happy, but she does have a bad cold, on top of not really wanting to be in choir), the fence painting was WONDERFUL - had a bunch of kids AND adults out there. We have a lot of plain fence boards remaining for next years VBS, and the oldest preschool class, but a lot was pianted and it looks really cool. I am going to take photos tomorrow (DH & a few other got action photos today). Sarah & her friend came in second in the photo scavenger hunt (using cell phone cameras all over the church - laugh - not TOO many items in the sanctuary, but a few), and DH MC'd the speed texting competition. We had sign-ups, and a bracket, and about 15 different texts (some short, some longer, punctuation and caps and spelling all counted). Then a lunch while the NYG group presented on their trip from this summer. It was nice light atmosphere. AND I got Sarah signed up for acolyting as well.
So here I sit, dressed in grubbies and ready to go work in the yard some more, however delias just sent an e-mail about another buy one get one 50% off jeans sale, and Natasha needs more than the 2 pairs she has, and Sarah needs a belt or two (because she grew 1/2 inch in the last week and now her jeans are loose at the waist and between PE 2-3 times a week and volleyball 4 times a week she needs more gyms shorts), and Mira has just shot up a 1/2 inch so her two pairs of jeans from last spring are REALLY highwaters now so she desperately needs long pants (not that she fits in delias clothes, but since we'll be at the mall...) and there is NO WAY we are going to make it to the mall any time in the next 7 days. Well, we COULD go next Sunday afternoon, but I have a feeling I have more energy now than I will then and we can pick up a gift for DH's birthday. he's sleeping off a headache so he'll never know. I'd better go get my nicer clothes back on!
