I am pleased to announce that as of 6:05 this morning ... after two days of EARNEST EFFORT ... I once again have table space to scrap in my scrap corner!!!!! I also have five boxes of scrap paper, one box of Ziploc bags full of embellishments, and a divided file folder carrying case with foam and chipboard in it. AND ... most of my tools are put away where they are supposed to be. (miracles never cease)
While there is still work to do to get it completely presentable, at least I can run downstairs and SCRAP when I'm stressed. Did you know that scrapping and eating do not go so well together? That's right. I once again have a place to work out my stress that does not involve food.
AND because of my sorted scraps, I can easily make bows and envelopes or even just use up some scraps making embellishments for later. So I don't have to have a HUGE project to work on if I only have a few minutes here and there. AND I have sorted out small rectangles that are big enough that I can cut trading cards out of them for small gift books. And because I also have sorted out embellishments and scraps of paper in all sizes, making said small gift books from trading card size cardstock should be MUCH easier!
It's a happy day in my world, I'm not gonna lie.
So ... plans for today:
get ready and go to the church
collect what needs collecting for the fund raiser today
go to the site for the fund raiser
supervise youth and just generally have fun with them until about 2:30
come back home and switch gears
go to a local church with a gazebo for taking Homecoming pictures of Cowboy and his date
then home for the evening, where I'm betting I will PLAY! (at least a little)
got up and started housework and laundry. Will is still sleeping so I am trying to do quiet things.
I am going to try to complete all of my homework today. I have an accounting test and homework to do. a paper to write for marketing, and the usual key terms and critical thinking for org. business.
I am not really scrapping much cuz I am trying to save up photos for my trip to Des Moines, but I may end up scrapping some this weekend.
The boy scouts are at the feast of the hunters moom. Will and I will go there tomorrow to visit for a while but its one that a ton of other parents go to, so we don't. Its about the only time of year we get help from them.
Its COLD here and has been raining since last night. We turned the heat on yesterday.
baked a carrot cake last night, Will was having a craving.
Yay Julie! I was cleaning my scrappy space last night (more on that below)
Stacy - it is cool here today too, but sunny. We'll be doing a lot of yard work today, want to finish up all projects as a slight chance of frost tonight. So far we've slept in, had piano and percussion lessons, and N and her friend are playing badminton in the back yard. Not sure about dinner, but no place to go the rest of the day. I am going to finish kitting up all my photos I have sketches chosen for then move on to final Hawaii photos I think. I mean, we were only there in 2006...Tomorrow we'll sleep in a "liitle" as DH is singing in choir second service, and more of the same - relaxed yard work and scrappy planning.
As for my scrappy cleaning last night I was up quite late. That was fun digging through really old stuff.
There was a bag full of old photo folders, extra cropper hoppers of papers I rarely use, such as the occasional ugly papers from kits (amazing how 1 paper/month you hate from a monthly kit club can add up), free kits from crops that weren't quite me or I haven't bothered to find photos for, kit remains from CKC albums that needed to go somewhere, Holiday kits, free 8x8 pads of paper from CKC etc. I cleaned off my desk (especially my happy little bowls full of stuff from a project I haven't touched in months and all the scraps, notes etc.) and the tops of both cabinets. I also finished putting away the stuffed embellishment bag from when I last cropped with Karen (I know, but hey, if I am kitting, better to have it where I can find it, right?) Changed out the stuff stuck in my M wall art/photo holder, combined all the Halloween stuff in one spot, the Christmas stuff in one spot, made a 3 inch pile of papers/paper pads for the girls, consolidated the kit bags from CKC albums and put them in a cropper hopper where I can find them but actually store them - for some finished kits I just moved the leftover bits into my stash. .A little more to do, but it won't take long. And I won't feel guilty giving the girls stuff now because THEIR closet is clean and we have a place for it now without making a mess!
It feels so nice again. NOW I can really get planning. Just have to choose which project - I think the Hawaii but I found papers I was saving for the Fairy Album and I was motivated by all the Halloween papers too.
UGH Elixa is out of town with a friend and smiley. her car (our explorer) got broken into and the people stole her debit card and her gps. they are making a police report. she got her bank card cancelled. the people had already tried to use it 3 times once for over 400!
Woke up at 3:30 yesterday morning. Got up at 4:30. Rafters were shaking. @@
worked on the scrap corner
got ready
collected the things I was supposed to collect for the fund raiser (minus the shredded cheese. OOPS)
worked the fund raiser from 9:30 to 2:30 (have a nice little sunburn to prove it) and got to see my Layla Jane and her mama and grandma (WHAT? TWICE in one week with my friend???? Oh, yeah!)
Made $414 yesterday and have potential to make $80 more today in quart jars of leftover soup/ham and beans.
Left to pick up chocolate bars for the s'mores at the bonfire, then home
Homecoming pictures ... look on Facebook
then home to put away the boxes of scraps in my scrap corner (and out of the living room) and to organize the hot chocolate mix and the s'mores supplies
fixed dinner, cleaned up
went to bed ... I was WIPED.
At 3:30 this morning, I woke up. Red had not come to bed. Uh oh. Looked outside. He was with the fire. Had the kids been here? I didn't see kids. I didn't *hear* kids. Hmmmmm
Came down the hall .... hot chocolate mix has been moved and used. Milk is still on the stove. Not one package of anything s'more related had been opened. Hmmmmmmmm
Red came in. Bonfire was over. No one wanted s'mores. Three kids had hot chocolate (and Cowboy had inisted Red buy two gallons of milk, then had put the mix in with the milk on the stove instead of putting it in the cups and using water as I had suggested ... @@) Cowboy left about 3:30 to take his date and her sister home. His friend drove them because the friend was hungry and wanted to get something to eat. @@ THey had dinner at Lotta Watta Creek at 9:30. I can eat off of ONE Lotta Watta Creek meal for three days, and that was BEFORE I changed my eating habits!
I went back to bed. Couldn't go to sleep. Got up at 4, and told REd to go to bed because he'd been up all night. I said I'd wait for the boys to get back. He didn't. I did.
They got back home at 5:05. And now I feel like I could sleep for hours. Gonna grab 30 minutes, and then get ready for worship. Ugh. This is NOT happening AGAIN.
