Maybe it's because I'm stuck in the dark ages with a dial up but this new format is awful. It takes FOREVER for anything to load & then when it does load it's only 1 message at a time. Anyone now a command like the old ?embed=all thingy?

But seriously WHY did they do this? I've already emailed them telling them that this is so awful... like they really care I'm sure. This just feels so impersonal & cumbersome now.. what used to take a me a couple minutes to scan is now like a f'ing word search... I cannot read anyone's posts.

Anyway I hope that this can improve because I just don't feel as though this is going to work with my connection. :( Is anyone researching another place that we can all migrate too?

So sad in California (Moriah)

Moriah - I felt the same way when I first got on here this morning. I too am "in the dark ages". But, I've been here off and on all day and I'm actually getting used to it (I think). I had problems with the old site taking forever to go from post to post and this site doesn't seem to take any longer. Although, I was hoping that this site would be faster. I'm not saying I enjoy this site, not yet anyway, but it may not be as much a PITA as I thought it would be. So, try to hang-in -there with us. Maybe this weekend you'll have some time to sit down and work with it a little.

Take care! - Kellie

Oh, Moriah, you sound so sad! I can see where you are coming from. I have dialup at home (plus an ancient computer) so I'd never be able to do it there. Luckily I post from work during the week, but it's not much easier with a better connection!

I know it's only day one, so I guess we should all at least try to get used to it. Now with the headings, I find it a little more organized, and the outline view helps a little, but the posts moving all over the place is so confusing. I am hoping we all get used to it and can hang around, because I think we've got a great little community here!

Hang in there!

Debra

I'm with you there Moriah and I have ISDN connection. You have no idea how many games of patience I have played waiting for a window to come up. I too keep being asked to log on despite having clicked the "remember password" box. I also miss the embed all command, it takes so long for messages to load that I just give up and can't be bothered to read them all. I'll persevere for a while, but I have to admit that I'm spending more time on ukscrappers now, it's far faster

Hugs Moriah!!! I am feeling totally overwhelmed by this thing too. I am sorry your connection sucks so bad and that these new changes look like they are only going to be more time consuming. I am hoping to find some time to figure it out and I am hoping it will turn out to be better than if first appears.

I hope things are going well at the store. I am looking forward to seeing it!

I posted my RS Tag sample, but you'll probably never find it in this mess of a board so I will e-mail it to you later and see what you think.

Hugs,

No Moriah! Don't leave... the cl on another board I'm on said that it was slow this AM because of transitioning issues, it should be better going forward. I have cable internet and it was taking me forever to read and post this morning too. Not as bad now.

I'm not a huge fan of this new format either... hopefully PP will listen to some of the suggestions and make a few changes. I can see potential in this format, there are just a lot of bugs right now.

HUGS

I don't know if this will help you or not, but instead of left clicking each message, right click your mouse, select the item that says, "open target in new window" then click. This way, the message will open in a new window and your computer won't have to keep downloading each message.

I can't remember where I read it - I've been to the moon and back the way all this stuff links together now - but I read that if your security settings are set to not receive cookies it will slow you way down. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer you go under the Tools menu to Internet Options, select the "Privacy" tab at the top and slide the thing to "Accept All Cookies". You can always switch it back if that doesn't help.
