time to make a Christmas tree

It's coming up to that time of year so today's challenge is to make your own Christmas tree. It doesn't have to be anything fancy - just something you made yourself.

Not sure how to make one? It's not hard - honest! Here are a couple of trees I made last year.

The first one I made by drawing 3 circles and cutting each of them into a quarter circle. Add a bevel and brown box and we have a fancy tree. I used that tree in this siggy - added a pattern into the layer style.

The second one I literally drew by hand. I just dragged my mouse back and forward making the branches. They looked really bad so I used a filter on them - filter/artistic/rough pastels. I like how it looked so added a star and put the same filter on it and then drew 3 brown lines for the trunk and again added the filter. Here's a siggy I made with that tree -

Let's see what kind of trees you can make! Have fun!

Oh, here's the thread where we did this last year. Some of the trees have gone but there are still some there to inspire you if you need inspired! :o)

I saw a tree like this in a shop window this morning. It was made of cardboard and I stood and looked at it thinking "I could make that in Photoshop!". So I did! :oD

That looks good! I was trying this last night and I made one with the shape tool and just filled the holes in with color. Since I didnt draw the tree out or put much effort in it I thought it was cheating so I didnt save it lol. I tried to draw one out by hand and it is hard! I guess I am not that talented or maybe I need some quiet time to think! I will try again!

Oh I didn't mean you had to do anything by hand. Crumbs, I can't draw to save my skin so I know how hard that is!! :oD

Using the custom shape tool is a great way to do it. Then you can erase bits with other shapes or put a pattern on it or add a bevel - and so on and so on.

In fact, that's how I made the trees in my siggy - they're just the raindrop shape with some lines on them.

Play around again, Mellisa, and this time save it and show it off! We'd love to see what you did! :o)

Well darn! I guess I was putting too much thought in it! I will play around with it later.
