is this ugly?

I can't decide if I like it or if I hate it... I'm hoping for pink and should find out on the 6th, so I was playing around and made this. But I can't decide if it's ugly. Plus I hate that my name looks jagged, I'm using gimp and I have that box checked, when I uncheck it, it's worse, I wonder if it's just the text... oh well, is it ugly? or is it just uhh not right. I'm trying to learn, I really need to learn how to work with pics!!! I have been unsuccessful at reshaping or anything with them :( I guess I'll just stick with names until I get to where I'm liking them, then I'll try and learn more.

Totally agree with you Liz! MUCH easier to adjust the layer's opacity than playing with the eraser! Thats another reason why putting each thing on its own layer is extremely helpful!!

I was going to say..gimp must be soo different because opacity and eraser have nothing to do with each other in PSP..LOL But what you said makes so much sense...i wish i would have time to download gimp and learn another program..i bet it would be cool.;)

thanks for the great tip - I didn't know how to do anything with opacity!

I actually like the darkness of the pink bubbles, I just thought it was a bit much, but taking off the few cut off bubbles worked great - at least for my taste ;)

Actually, the easiest way to reduce the opacity is to go to the layers box, and click the layer you want. Then slide the slider at the top (default is 100%). This adjusts the whole layer, but is easier than using the eraser and accidentally doing too much.

the easiest way to reduce the opacity or make things clearer in to pick the eraser tool, and the slide the opacity bar back and forth till you get a look that you want, ive learned that if you pick up your mouse in the middle of erasing it this was you can double lighten, so hold tight that mouse button till everything get erased once over. youll have to play around a bit, but this is what i do.

One other suggestion (and I do like your remake, btw). Sometimes when an element seems overpowering, I find that reducing the opacity of that layer does the trick...it keeps the element, it's just not quite so overpowering. I don't use Gimp, so I can't tell you how to do if it you don't already know how to do it...sorry ;-)

Bummer on the re-scheduled u/s...and that you have to wait so long.
