Okay Downton Abbey...this year has been a tough one.  Love the show and it's been a really good season but good grief maybe we could take a break from the saddness.  Granted the shock that they keep putting me thru is what is making the season so good but I don't think my heart can handle much more of the heartache.

Recap...

This might just be the finest episode "Downton Abbey" has ever done. It is certainly a masterclass in acting from everyone involved. Be warned: Don't keep reading if you haven't watched yet.

Lady Sybil has died in childbirth. What an absolutely gut-wrenching hour of television. When Sybil goes into labor, there are some issues and Dr. Clarkson wants to move her to the hospital. But Lord Grantham's stuffy specialist Sir Phillip says everything is perfectly normal.

And a healthy baby girl arrives. But Sybil goes into seizures in the middle of the night and dies, with her family surrounding her, begging the doctors to do something. By that point it's too late.

Oh my gosh!  I cried and cried.  This is the first season I've watched Downton Abbey.  What great acting.  Elizabeth McGovern by her bedside was heart breaking.

Oh you should watch the first two seasons.  The first season was actually a mini series and I think(can't quite remember for sure) was only four episodes.  I cried and cried too.  I had heard that there was a death this season but made sure I didn't get into the spoilers...plus I thought it was a death at the end of the season so this was quite a shocker for me.  Mary and Edith talking by Sybil's bedside before they took her away was exactly how those two would react.  Mary since the beginning has always been hard on Edith and definatly no nonsense so it's not a shock when Edith asked if this would make them closer and Mary said no but they needed to be true sisters right now.  I also completely agree with Cora's anger and kicking the Lord out of the bedroom.  I would be exactly the same if I were in her shoes.
