New Disney Park wristbands(this is for Lisa)

It’s more magical than a flying carpet!
Well, not really, but big tech changes are coming to Disney Parks. A new wristband, called the MagicBand, will replace paper tickets and is set to be rolled out over the next several months. The band is part of a new system called MyMagic+, which will include a web site and app, allowing guests to reserve time at a ride in advance, according to a press release. The project could completely revolutionize how we think about amusement parks… and the long, sometimes discouraging lines. The MagicBand would essentially act as a credit card, allowing everything from ride entry to food payment to be taken care of with a simple swipe.
In a move that could be creepy — but also amazing – The New York Times reports that this new intelligence can get kids on a first-name basis with Disney princesses. “Before, the employee playing Cinderella could say hello only in a general way. Now — if parents opt in — hidden sensors will read MagicBand data, providing information needed for a personalized greeting: ‘Hi, Angie,’ the character might say without prompting. ‘I understand it’s your birthday.’ “
Great news for twenty-somethings who were hoping to snap a picture with Aladdin.

Wanna laugh at me? My 1st thought was that we'll all have tan lines around the wrist band. LOL!!!
This is very cool... especially the part about reserving times at a ride.
Lisa, I hope you get to try them out in March! It would be great to hear your 1st hand experience with them and I would hope they'd make your trip more fun!
This sounds SO SO cool !!!! We usually head to Orlando during the kids' Mardi Gras break (Feb or March). This year we already have plans for Universal Studios and Disney Quest but this definitely seals the deal for me for the following year's trip! Can't wait!

You go every year? :faint: LOL!
If we go back next fall for my other's son archery competition we promised to take them to Universal because of all the Harry Potter stuff. It feels weird to me to do anything but Disney.
That was MY first thought too. Those bands are big and the tan line is going to be huge!!!
Dh's job is stressing me out pretty bad. Layoffs are coming next week or the week after and they keep going back and forth on if they will be handing out bonus' this year. I already have the trip paid for but we have talked numerous times about not going if the bonus' don't come thru so we have more padding in our savings. I paid the trip insurance so we can still back out but none of us want to. I'm really going to be crushed if we don't go but I'm going to be stressed if we run our savings too low and something happens with Dh's job by chance. So I'm not sure what we are going to do.
Anyway, if we go I hope they are either in place or we get to try them out. I will for sure let you know how they work.

You lucky, lucky duck for going every year. We are going to Universal this year as well if everything goes good. Ds has been there with the band...the rest of us have yet to go and we want to head to WWOHP.

I forgot to tell you in my previous reply....I did get good news yesterday. They have DISCOUNTS right now. So I called and got some money off our reservations...makes it a little easier for us to not call the trip off!!! There are black out days this spring but they do have some deals going on.
