MADGE ALERT: Madonna will perform songs from her new CD American Life in an hourlong MTV special Madonna on Stage and on the Record, airing April 22 at 10 pm/ET. Guy Ritchie's other half will also address the controversy surrounding her anti-war video and take questions from the studio audience as well as MTV News' John Norris. Carson Daly will host the Madonnafest.

POWER PLAYERS: Steven Spielberg has topped Premiere magazine's 2003 list of the 100 most influential people in Hollywood. Among the celebs landing at the top of the heap: Tom Hanks (13), Tom Cruise (14), Mel Gibson (15), Julia Roberts (16) and Reese Witherspoon (32). And just in case you were wondering, yours truly held firm at 145,789.

THE GOOD GIRL: Heidi Fleiss is officially off the hook. On Tuesday, an L.A. judge ruled that the former Hollywood Madam — who was convicted in 1997 of money laundering, tax evasion and attempted pandering — had successfully completed the terms of her probation. Fleiss, whose first book Pandering recently arrived in stores, will now turn her attention to developing a career in publishing. But first, she's gonna get herself some sex.

HEATED CONTEST: Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio are both developing films about H.H. Holmes, the infamous serial killer who stalked his prey at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, Variety reports.

ON THE MEND: Comedian Rodney Dangerfield underwent arterial brain surgery Tuesday to improve his body's blood flow in preparation for an upcoming heart valve replacement. The 81-year-old is currently recovering in an intensive care unit at UCLA Medical Center.

GIRLS GONE WILD: Queen Latifah has been tapped to host this year's VH1 Divas concert, featuring Mary J. Blige, Jewel and Chaka Khan. The show airs live at 9 pm/ET on May 22 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The music network says more performers will be announced in coming weeks, so there's still hope, folks.

LUCKY FOR HUTCH: Carmen Electra is in talks to join the cast of Warner Bros.'s upcoming big-screen adaptation of Starsky and Hutch, starring Ben Stiller as Starsky and Owen Wilson as Hutch. Electra would play Hutch's girlfriend.

TALL ORDER: Fox has given the greenlight to a pair of dramas, both of which could debut this summer. The network has ordered 13 episodes of Wonder Falls, a mystical adventure about a twentysomething living in Niagara Falls, and The O.C., a prime-time soap revolving around a poor kid who relocates to Orange County, Calif., and gasps, "I've never seen so many Republicans in my life."

SHORT CUTS: Fox has picked up Malcolm in the Middle for a fifth season... Luciano Pavarotti and Bono will perform a benefit concert to help Iraqi war refugees on May 27 in Italy... Rapper 50 Cent has landed his very own label with Interscope Records, titled G-Unit Records... Charles S. Dutton will play Montgomery County, Md., police chief Charles Moose in The Beltway, USA Network's telepic about last year's sniper killings.
