My whole life growing up I hated my name - it sounded like something straight out of Petticoat Junction - remember that show?! Anyway, now that I'm an adult I LOVE my name because it is unique and I've grown into it. Most people shorten it to just Jo anyway.
But when I little I wanted a different name and here were my top 5 choices:
Suzanne, Jane, MaryAnne, Marisa, & Maureen.
I don't think I'd ever legally change my first name, because you know your family would always call you by your given and that would just annoy me. However, after being married the first time I changed my name back to my maiden name and even though I remarried, I never changed it again. My H teases me that I didn't want to take his name, so I always ask him to take mine!
My 18dd hates her last name (from exh, which is why I couldn't wait to change mine back) and is thinking of changing it after she is out of college. She's afraid her dad will get angry, but I reminded her that she can keep it and just add another and that she's over 18, she can do what she wants with her name....exh WOULD make a stink, but too bad is my feeling.
Even though I hate my boring, common name, I wouldn't change it at this point. If I could go back in time to convince my parents to pick a different name, I would suggest Kate, Julie, Emma, Ivy and Therese.
My mood today is
I for the most part like my name...I don't like that it's really common...in school there were A LOT of Jennifer Lynn's and I really didn't like that, and in my home room my 10th or 11th grade year there was a Jennifer Lynn and she had the same first 3 letters of my last name too...WAG
I REALLY REALLY REALLY didn't like that and the teacher thought they put her name on there twice and we had to say noooo there is two of us. lol
If I had to pick maybe...Ashley, Kelley
