How often is "In Moderation" to you??

I'm always puzzled when I hear the term "moderation" as it is so vague. We may think of foods in terms of moderation, but there are many other things that need to be done in moderation too. My growing list is this. Only one or two of these

your right...so many ways of looking at the term¸

Me instead of moderation if i need to i will just try and cut stuff out.. maybe for a day...week or month...maybe forever.

I've found that with food, just cutting stuff out for a period of time or trying to cut it out forever, does not work or solve the problem for me in the long run. I have to find what my period of time is for each problem item. Mine are sweets and chips. I love chips!! Pringles Cheese Chips are a favorite of mine. Through trial and error, I have found that my time of moderation is once every three months. That's about how often I buy a can of Pringles as I will eat the whole can at one sitting. Then I'm finished with it and won't buy more for another three or more months. If I buy them more often, though, I keep thining about them and want more and more. My dessert shooter from Applebees, though, I can have once a week and be okay with that and not think about it or crave it. Finding our balance of amount of time can be tricky.

My trouble with moderation in some things if it involves guilt in someone wanting me to do soemthing...i do it. i get so guilty

I understand and hate when that happens!! I used to be heavily involved in church committees. It got to be too much!! I learned to not say yes right off. Now I say no if it doesn't appeal to me or I'll say let me think about it and I'll get back to you. I do not let anyone talk me into doing something that I don't want to do. Try it, once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

I am a person that can eat 6 chips or so and put them away. the bag will last 3 weeks(big bag). can do that with a lot of stuff.

You are so lucky that you can do that with chips!! I wish I could do that too.

Can stop puter for a day or two if i need to. no cell for a lot of days too. doesnt bother me.

I can only do that with my computer when we're away on a vacation. You have better dicipline in that area than I do!!

Usually it is better fo me to just quit cold turkey. Moderation is just too loose a term

Whatever works.

Great questions Donna,
I think everyone may look at it differently
For me I see *moderation* different for different things.
For foods ..example it depends on what it is
The *bad* for me foods in moderation means few/less & not daily
Other things like computer time .. means walking away & doing other things.
In fact I use that with many of the things you mentioned ..
Most importanly for me is the food moderation as that has consequences.
While the others do too .. the food for me is the worst

Yes what works for me for what I do , maybe yucky to another person. Like clothes, books other things. Hard to tell a person what works good.
I tried to tell my mom if she wanted to lower her meds for hi cholester by t tapping.
She thinks it is exercise and will not try it. she rather walk and continue the meds.
I think my brother maybe the same way...I really have not asked him yet.

Donna: You and I must be the same with sugar; only, you have yours under control now.
