My husband has a ink lit Cruz reader.

I have a backlit Kindle Fire tablet.

I think it's good to have both a ink lit and a backlit for easy viewing in bright light and in dim light and to rest your eyes. If you want it for other purposes, you can do more with a tablet or a Kindle color reader. IPad is probably best, but larger to carry around with you.

I have a Samsung Galaxy with the Nook and Kindle apps. I also have a small Sony eReader, but it doesn't have a backlight so I don't really use it very often.

Nice on having those,
Is the galaxy a tablet?

Doesn't yours have a cover that helps it *sit* so you don't have to hold it?
I see why you would use it for when traveling & not much else.
Yes the tv screen, computer monitor would be bigger & easier at home :)

Yes, but if I'm going to watch a movie while riding as a passenger in the car, what would I sit it on?? I would have to hold it and close so I could hear it too. My arms would get tired I would think!!

A friend at TOPS tonight had her Fire with her and she showed us an APP that she downloaded onto it. It's a weightloss app that helps you keep track of things and tells you how many calories, fats, etc., are in menu items at various restaurants, lets you journal and so forth. I can see where that would be a good use for the Fire, but mainly I'll use it for reading books and for online while on vacations and probably just for reading books at home.

Ever one of those has apps for helping with weight loss & keeping track.
Could it not sit comfortably on your lap without you holding it?
Or would that be too far from your eyes?
Mine has a cover (that's another story, LOL)
It allows it to sit on my lap & I can type or read ..
Just a thought :)

Yes, I know, but this one was different and the gal who showed it to us has experience with several other ones and she said this one has the best (whatever the techy term is) than any of the others. Darn, I forgot to write down what it is. I'll find out though.

Sitting on my lap sounds uncomfortable for the time it would take to watch a movie in the car. I don't know if I could hear it well enough either without it being closer to my eyes & ears. I'll give it a try one of these days though.

Mine has a cover that has a stand, too, a white leather one..pretty!! It would take quite a bit of practice for me to type on it while it's sitting on my lap though. I'm not even able to type well on my laptop sitting on my lap!! My neck gets sore from looking down too!!

Ooh, an iPad...I'm jealous! But I did finally get an iPhone and we love Siri.

Anyway, I'm seriously considering getting my youngest son a Kindle for his b-day in April (he'll be 9). He reads before going to bed and we go through book lights like nobody's business. So it would be nice to have something that was already back lit for him. My friend showed me hers and pointed out the huge selection of FREE books they have on there- awesome!
