When you order your books .. are any of them free?
I have the boards on mine .. do you?

There are free books on the ibook app Hugs.

Not sure what you mean by "BOARDS"

Doesn't yours have a cover that helps it *sit* so you don't have to hold it?
I see why you would use it for when traveling & not much else.
Yes the tv screen, computer monitor would be bigger & easier at home :)

Yes, but if I'm going to watch a movie while riding as a passenger in the car, what would I sit it on?? I would have to hold it and close so I could hear it too. My arms would get tired I would think!!

A friend at TOPS tonight had her Fire with her and she showed us an APP that she downloaded onto it. It's a weightloss app that helps you keep track of things and tells you how many calories, fats, etc., are in menu items at various restaurants, lets you journal and so forth. I can see where that would be a good use for the Fire, but mainly I'll use it for reading books and for online while on vacations and probably just for reading books at home.

Ever one of those has apps for helping with weight loss & keeping track.
Could it not sit comfortably on your lap without you holding it?
Or would that be too far from your eyes?
Mine has a cover (that's another story, LOL)
It allows it to sit on my lap & I can type or read ..
Just a thought :)

Yes, I know, but this one was different and the gal who showed it to us has experience with several other ones and she said this one has the best (whatever the techy term is) than any of the others. Darn, I forgot to write down what it is. I'll find out though.

Sitting on my lap sounds uncomfortable for the time it would take to watch a movie in the car. I don't know if I could hear it well enough either without it being closer to my eyes & ears. I'll give it a try one of these days though.

Mine has a cover that has a stand, too, a white leather one..pretty!! It would take quite a bit of practice for me to type on it while it's sitting on my lap though. I'm not even able to type well on my laptop sitting on my lap!! My neck gets sore from looking down too!!

Would love to know what it is called & that is it the best Donna,
I know what you mean about the neck, LOL
And yes it could be uncomfortable in the car that long.
Oh goota love all the modern tech stuff though
Your cover sounds similar to mine but I changed colors & got it in black to match the ipad
Let's hope one day we figure all this out :)

I don't have one but not because I don't want one. They seem great and everything but then I would have to buy the books so it's the gift that keeps on giving when I could get them from the library for free. But then again, I have fines half the time so I am paying for it in a sense, lol.

Maybe one of these days I will get one.

I did read yesterday that if you get a subscription to NY Times ($20/month) that you get a free nook or $100 off their fancy one. It's not a deal if you have no plans on reading the paper but if you do read that paper or want to read any paper, it's a pretty good deal.

Ellen, I have a Kindle Fire too. What do you love about your's besides books?? Was your old Kindle ink lit or back lit? I feel like I need one of each for comfortable reading in any source or level of light.

I'm interested in what others use theirs for besides reading books or magazines.

That's not quite how it works Sunny,
I am learning from everyone here ..
Tons of sites to get books free .. so very well worth it.
I hope you do decide to get one one day :)
