I've heard a few people mention that they're only can see new threads, not replies, so I'm starting a new thread to answer more questions, just to be safe.

Have I shared the thread where you can check for updates on various bug fixes? I'm starting to forget who I've told what, lol. Is it Friday yet?

http://www.ivillage.com/forums/ivillage-women/around-ivillage/ivillage-help/ivillage-help/message-board-fixes-updates#new

Okay, here are some additional questions I've seen- if you don't see yours answered, please don't hesitate to ask again. I'm trying to make it to each of my boards at least once a day but am also answering people through email and PM's too. Smile

Changing Font Colors: It's a feature that they will have to build and add on later.(After all the major bugs and other craziness dies down). I agree, it was nice to have.

Editing a Post: Yep, you should be able to edit your own post. I just tested it in a non-moderator name and was able to.

Replying to Yourself: This is on the list of 'known bugs"

Newest to Oldest Not Sticking: is this for replies (where it says "Views replies by", right next to "itmes per page".) or for threads? (the option that appears under "thread options"). Unforunately, I don't have a time frame for it to start "sticking". It's definitely on the list of bugs but probably not as high of a priority as fixing all the issues on the mobile site, for example.

Speaking of issues on the mobile site... I don't own an iPad (sniff!) so I don't have a lot of first-hand knowledge about the issues but I do know it's pretty high on the priority list. I also found a thread about it on the iVillage Help board :

http://www.ivillage.com/forums/ivillage-women/around-ivillage/ivillage-help/ivillage-help/mobile-site-fixes#new

Threads remembering where you left off: aka, "thread memory". Jessica Dukes, our Community Director talked aobut a "Mark as New/Mark as Read" feature in the thread I linked to above but I *think* what you're asking about is different, right? To me, "mark as new/red", is what you can select for whole threads but "thread memory" is for the actual messages in a thread, and it remembers for you where you left off. I'll be sure to ask about it!

How to Bookmark a board in Chrome: scroll down the board a bit, at the bottom of the list of threads, you'll see "see all threads on this board". Click on that. You'll then see "Board Options"- mouse over that and in the drop down menu you'll see the option to subscribe.

Subscribe: It's a feature where if you are subscribed to a thread, you'll receive an email when a new reply is posted. Unfortunately, it's currently not working but it's definitely on the "known issues" list.

As always, thanks so so so so much for your patience! Things are getting better everyday. I know a major bug was fixed just today (login issues using Internet Explorer were fixed).

Lisa, what's the latest on being able to change your preferences, etc. I'm still getting the e-mail taken/siggy too long message when I try to change anything. So right now, no siggy, no latest active thread floating to the top (so i have to look at ech thread to see when the last reply was & try to remember if I read it before or after), etc. Also what about thread memory. It's a biggie. Without it I just dont even want to read posts anymore. Dont have time to go looking for the ones I havent read.

are they getting any closer to resolving these problems?

Hi,

I don't have any exact ETA's for bugs but I do know that right now, the bug that is keeping some members from seeing replies is the tech team's #1 priority right now. The "inability to set preferences" is another biggie too so it will probably follow shortly after that.

I miss the "thread memory" function too (where it remembers where you left off reading in a thread). It's something that in time our tech team can build back in but it's just not as high of a priority as other issues right now, such as some members still not being able to log in.

I have a small workaround option for this - it's not quite a good but it helps some. Under the original post but before the first reply you'll see "thread options". You can select newest to oldest and it will temporarily show you the newest replies in the thread first. It's temporary b/c once you leave the thread and come back to it, it reverts back to its' default setting- oldest to newest. It's not quite as good as thread memory b/c the newest reply might not be the newest reply that you've read but it does help avoid going through pages of older, longer threads.

There's also another option but it's under "preferences" so you probably won't be able to try it right now :( Under "Edit my preferences" (right hand side of page), click on the "general" tab. Then, click the box that says " sort topics by time of most recent post".

I know I keep saying this but THANK YOU for continuing to hang in there with us!!! The tech team is working days and even most nights to get all the kinks ironed out for us. You can also check the iVillage Help board for any latest updates:

Lisa, since Quote option shows too much extra stuff that makes my head spin & makes it hard to read, I'm just c&Pp & replying in there. BTW, it still shows that I'm replying to myself, not to you.

I understand that having members log in should take priority, but if logged in members are leaving or staying away because it's just too much work to even be able to read anything, then it's still a lose/lose situation. I "see" a lot of pissed off people here & I barely visit any boards. Ivillage lost a lot of members with their previous change, looks like they might lose a bunch more with this one. Perhaps more plannning should have gone into it before the launch so we wouldn't be in this mess now. I understand that some things could not have been anticipated, but they definitely knew that they have to capacity for some of the things. It's very disappointing. Seems like they rushed to change over first, then tried to figure out what to do after.

here's also another option but it's under "preferences" so you probably won't be able to try it right now :( Under "Edit my preferences" (right hand side of page), click on the "general" tab. Then, click the box that says " sort topics by time of most recent post". - Oh, I saw all the options in preferences & had even told people about it, but no, I cannot do any of that. My siggy showed up now so I thought that maybe, just maybe I'd be able to change my preferences, but no such luck. Still the same error messages. BTW, not all of my sig is showing up & this wasn't the latest one I had, but at least it's something. Still, as nice as it is to see it, I'd rather be able to change my preferences so I could see the latest replied topics on top instead of searching for them (like this thread is now on the second page) & to be able to read more than 10 posts at a time & have it stick, etc.

Oh, btw, can this post window be enlarged? It's so small, fits like maybe 5 lines.

I've checked there before I posted here, but there are no updates on this issue. I posted about my error messages there yesterday, but still no response. I always check there first before I post to you. So I cover all the bases & try not to bother you or them too much, but my patience is wearing thin. It just seems to me that at least some of the bugs should have been worked out before they did the change over. Not to mention members should have been notified ahead of time. There was nothing from ivillage on this board. I rarely visit other boards, but just happened to visit one when the notice was posted, I think a day before the change. Not right. What was the rush, anyway?

More replies: Smile

First and Foremost- I can assure you all that this change was NOT rushed, in fact it was delayed multiple times whenever a bug was found during testing. The problem is that it's impossible to exactly duplicate a live enviornment with millions of hits coming at it. So even though things finally looked good in testing and we gave the "green light" for the switch, we're seeing much different results now that's "live". We are just as disapointed as you are, I promise- the last thing in the world we want is to lose members (which is why I keep begging for ya'll to stay!) and we did everything we could to avoid this kind of situation.

As for not being notified ahead of time, please accept my apology! I was out for most of the week before the launch (dental surgery, ugh) but I did have another moderator try and post the announcement on all my boards PLUS hers. But in the end, we're only human, and I'm sorry this board somehow missed being notified.

Other misc answers:

Hugss- When I did the colored font, I highlighted the actual word "red", hit control-c to copy it and then hit control-V to past it into a new reply. After I had the word red inside my new post, everything I typed after it was also in red. Then when I was done, I just erased the word "red" from my post.

I don't quite know what you mean by center graphics?

I found the preference for receiving a notification for PM's but I don't think it's working b/c I haven't gotten any notifications for any of my PM's. But if you want to try it, go to "edit my preferences", then the tab that says "private messenger", the click the box that says " Receive email notification for incoming private messages".

Making the post window bigger- I made mine bigger by putting my cursor on the right hand, bottom corner of the post window. I then clicked/dragged it downward, which made it bigger.

I'm really sorry you guys are so frustrated. Frown If I had a magic wand to fix this, I would! Please don't give up on us yet.

So how/where can find the color blue & other colors?

When I asked about centering graphics I mean a picture .. It won't stay centered.
Look in the Smiles & Frown post & you'll see my graphic is not cntered but when I posted it I used the *center*

Will try the pm thing but I can see I haven't gotten any notifications today
Seems the boards have been down more than up today :(

Ah, yes, I see that now...I'm not sure why "center" didn't work but I'll be sure to pass it on.

Other colors..hmm.. CMErin did a tutorial, located here:

http://www.ivillage.com/forums/ivillage-women/around-ivillage/ivillage-help/ivillage-help/how-create-colored-text-and-other-fun-stuff#new

BUT let me try something...

Green Blue Red..okay, yep, that worked.

What I did was open a word processor (Microsoft Word, for example) and selected a font color from there, wrote a word using that color, then copied & pasted it here. I tried 3 different colors and they all worked.

Subscriptions- are you going through the exact same process for each thread that worked for you before? Are you suddenly not getting notifications for threads you were already subscribed to? (and that you had previously gotten notifciations for?)

Hey Lisa, It worked! Making the post window bigger works, but only per post. It's not sticking. Wonder if there's a way to make it stick. Perhaps in preferences, which I still cannot do. And if not, maybe you can mention it to whoever's in charge of this, that this is something they should work on when other, more important things are taken care of.

Are they any closer to resolving "e-mail" taken issue? Any time frame on that? Please?

More questions please Lisa,

Email notifications ..
Some lead right to the new post while others lead to the last page,
Is this a known issue?

Seems longer threads like our Random Thoughts don't lead to the newest post ..
But to page numbers instead .. is this a known issue?

That's it for the moment :)
