he went for school orientation yesterday. this school is not in their town but the next town over. from what his mom said it is huge and no one was of any help to them. he got a locker but can not see it to open it because he is legally blind. neither marina or lucas felt comfortable at the school. so, she found out that one of the elementary schools in their town was adding 7th and 8th grade. lucas will be in 7th grade. she went and got the paperwork yesterday and turned it in this morning. she was told that they would let her know something on monday or tuesday. well, just a little while ago she got a call from the elementary school telling her that the new school can't remember the name had already faxed a request for his records and that the principle and several teachers had written letters on lucas' behalf to get him into this school. so, marina asked does that mean he is in? the secretary from his old school said that that would be the only reason they would ask for a student's records. the principle at the new school won't be there until monday and makes the final decision so hopefully he or she will call and tell marina that lucas is set there.

there are only 20 other students enrolled so far in the 7th grade and that would help him greatly as he needs special help. keep your fingers crossed that this will work out for him.

i'm putting in a picture of him so you can see him,  he is a great kid!!!

Great pic, Ellen!

Sounds like this is going to work out but waiting until Monday might seem like a long time to get the official go-ahead.

Smaller class size sounds great - good luck to him!

Hey E..hope everything works out for Lucas and he gets to go to the new school. The right school can make all the difference in the world. I know because I have seen it happen for my youngest grandson.
