As I sat here looking out my window, I stopped and took a good look at the beauty of the earth around me (or at least part of it LOL).

I have a window right near my computer and as I sit here and look out, I see the forsythia in full bloom of yellow flowers.

We just spent a week in California for Spring break and I couldn't wait to check out my yard and see what's popped while we were gone!
I see that my favorite tree, my flowering plum, has popped and is filled with those delicate little pink florettes that I just love. I see that the earth in my gardens is soft and real wet, ready for some tilling. My hostas have all broken ground and are all light green looking so perfect! And I also see that some phlox is just about to bloom! My lilacs and blueberry shrubs have many buds on them and our Magnolia shrub has 3 top buds ready to burst. My grass is looking real green (which is such a nice change from that winter gray).
You'd think that by this time it would be old hat, but each year I am filled with such wonder at the sight of new life bursting outside my window! Even though there is still a bite in the air, I am itching to get out my garden tools and picnic set! I even told H we were uncovering the pool this weekend! He laughed at me and said we first have to build a deck.....oh yeah, that.
Hey there Hearts.

I was thinking that by Summer's end I'd like to create a water garden. I have so much other transplanting and building to do this Spring, like put a deck on our pool and transplant a bunch of perennials to my front garden to my closer front garden - sounds nuts, doesn't it? But my H is going to try and build us a porch this Summer and my plants will be destroyed if I don't move them! Anyway, your water garden just sounds like the most beautiful and peaceful place to be!
ps: Our trip was very nice, we packed in so much exploring and touring - even with my teenagers, who were pretty great all in all, we had a lot of fun! We went to Greystone, at the Culinary Institute of America because my 17dd wants to pursue a career in baking and pastry arts. We ate there and for 5 of us it was soooooo expensive! And we didn't even drink alcohol - only water and iced teas! Yikes - next time I check the menus BEFORE making reservations - but it was a great meal and my dd was very excited to see the kitchens and campus. Gorgeous views of wineries and mountains. Breathtaking.
