Sister and I made amends

My sister and I spoke last night.

I had the unfortunate task of calling her about the money she owes me from our cancelled trip. We made small talk at first, then I just asked her to please send me a check...that I hated to have to ask her and she apologized for putting me in that position. Then things took off from there. Talking to eachother again came easier and it's behind us, finally. I am very happy about this. With this experience I've also learned a few things about money and family...and I've put into place important boundaries as well.

Just wanted to share a happy moment.

Dear heartsandroses, I am so pleased that things are better now with your sister. It looks like she has had time to think about

Morning Hearts :)

I'm sure it was hard for you to contact her about this situation.

That's great news. You and your sister getting back on good terms again gives me hope for my own, fragile, sisterly relationship. My sister and I recently have regained a somewhat better relationship from a huge falling out we had a couple of years ago. I don't know if things will ever be the same between us (or at least the same as I thought they were), but we're at least talking again, and I don't feel so hesitant to be around her.

It's wierd because I feel like I always have my guard up whenever I discuss (even loose) plans with any of my sisters now, especially this one. She even asked me to come visit her next month and I had to be vague because I began feeling trapped somehow.

It is sad to have a situation like this with a family member, especially a sister, but I'm glad that you and your sister are at least talking to one another again, it's a start. Baby steps...that's what I keep telling myself.
