Woohoos:

We have figured out our holiday schedule now that we are not doing Christmas and instead Hanukkah. Growing up, I always wanted to have a big breakfast on Christmas morning; well Hanukkah is 8 days and I don't exactly want to do a big breakfast 8 days in a row! DH came up with the idea to do breakfast on the Sunday that falls during Hanukkah and some years it will be two breakfasts (I may very well decide to do the first one or second one). I have DH 8 presents but he doesn't have 8 presents for me so we will be opening presents on the Sunday as well.

I will be meeting my grandmother next Saturday to 'go' shopping. I doubt I will buy much but I'm really excited to just hang out with her. She will also be coming to celebrate part of Hanukkah with us.

The week is almost over!

We are going to remodel one of the bathrooms sooner than we thought!

Whines:

Every single one of our bathrooms is in disarray; the tile is either off the wall (our doing as we didn't think it was a big issue- taking tile off the wall is somewhat therapeutic) or the water isn't working in the shower. A plumber should come fix the shower next week. We tried fixing everything ourselves but part of the shower would NOT come apart and if we damaged it, we would have to call the plumber anyways.

I've slightly discussed this already but we shared with some family members that we've been going to a Jewish synagogue. My step mom was very passive aggressive about it; nice to our face, very intrigued but she would make snide remarks when she didn't think anyone was listening. She also said we shouldn't tell my grandmother...because then she would have to listen to her B&M about it. Great reason, huh? I was so exhausted after talking about it so much, I just shut down. I don't even know if I told my dad.

Remember how I talked about my mom's family a few weeks ago and what was going on was very Twilight Zone like? Yeah, that all crashed and burned in no time; my mom is now back living with my grandpa with no job.

Glad you figured it out though & it sounds nice.
Hanukkah sure comes late this year although I think it's good, LOL
Why not the one gift a night ?

Aww that sounds wonderful & am sure you'll have a terrific time with her!

Aww bummer .. little by little maybe ..
Well you tried so that was all you could do

Sad .. now that they know .. let it go with them
Won't get any peace over it anyways!

::sigh::
How hard that must be for him though :(

It IS hard. It's hard on his marriage, his wife is getting fed up at getting no help around the house. But at the same time, that's who my mom IS. They don't require her to do anything yet surprised she doesn't do anything. I know it has to be frustrating for them but they bring it on themselves...they enable her left and right and until they stop, nothing will change.

When is Hanukkah normally? This is our first and I've had a hard time adjusting, which was my other whine but now that we've figured out the breakfast, I've calmed down, lol. I will do one gift a night but DH doesn't have 8 gifts for me. My original plan was to wrap up various amounts of socks in different shapes and let him pick one each night, LOL. So not much thought and more of a joke. Then I went a little crazy with the Wii and got a few odds and ends for under $5-$10 and have incorporated them.

The bathroom we will remodel is one of the guest bathrooms. We are going to try to find someone to rent a room to but we needed to fix the tile work first so thy can use the tub. The old owners put a band-aid on a problem and did not do it very well; had they done the proper thing, none of this would be an issue <-- that came from DH.

Usually more in the beginning/kind of middle of December.
I believe this year the first night is either the 20th or 21st .. don't remember ::blush::
As long as you light the candles each night .. gifts well yes I know
Maybe DH will try to get you a few more *fun* ones like you did.

Well that does make sense though, LOL
Nice idea on renting the room if that works out.
Hang in there .. all this stuff takes time & money :)
