Surgery has been postponed.......
| Fri, 12-02-2011 - 3:12pm |
I was almost to the hospital when my stepson texted that Sierra's doctor postponed her surgery until maybe Sunday or Monday. He wants to watch her pressures a bit longer. I know this is the best decision and am thankful that he is so protective of Sierra and not rushing this...but....well, you know.
And so we wait.
Goodness, she is such a strong little girl!! God's hands are on her always keeping her safe. So thankful!!
Thank you everyone for continued prayers and concerns, so appreciated!!

It will happen when it is ment to happen. The actually put a screw in aj`s head to watch the pressure that is why he was kept in the coma so long. It was the best for him.
Yes god is watching her. She will have the surgery when the time is right
continues P&PT`S
Good they are waiting then Donna,
I know the wiating must be awful ::sigh::
I take it the roads/weather was ok today?
How is DH feeling today?
Now you can nap/relax today.
Tons of loving thoughts & prayers :)
Continued prayers and thoughts Donna.
Was thinking of you and how long you had to wait for AJ's surgery. They put a monitor through her head into her brain too. It's a fine wire and you can't see anything but the wire sticking out. A nurse on the team that inserted the monitor, didn't want to shave her bangs off, so she braided them to one side and put a small ponytail twistie on it and then only shaved a small section behind them. The braid looks cute and sweet and little girl like. The nurse said that way Sierra can pull her bangs back afterwards to cover the shaved spot while her hair grows back in there. So nice of her to do that!
The waiting is a test of patience, for me anyway.
what a wonderful nurse that was to do that donna. It was so hard for aj with the missing hair. he still has too bald spots where the road rubbed the hair right off his head.
It is so nice when you get good nurses. we had a couple horrible ones. The good ones you cherish!
After aj came out of the coma we had to work on walking again and getting him mobile. They gave him a tricycle to ride. he was 10 and on this trike...it was so funny. He left blackies everywhere.
then we got him a remote control truck...he drove the nurses nuts...but he had a great time with it.Did you take any pictures? we hadnt thought of it. a friend gave us a camera. you will never believe how far she has come till you look back

We only had one bad nurse and wouldn't you know it was the next night after she was admitted!! She wasn't going to let her mom use a sleeping room, said she didn't live far enough away!! She was not nice about other things too, just a bad attitude. The next shift nurse was furious and said she would see to it that a sleeping room was always available to her!! All of the other nurses have been wonderful!
Oh, that's sad that AJ's hair never grew back in those spots.
Cute about the trike and blackies!! lol
I thought about taking pictures, but haven't asked either of her parents what they think about that. I don't want to sound bizarre or something like that. One day when she's ready, she may like to see what she looked like hooked up to all the lines and monitors around her bed though. I'll suggest it to her mom next time I'm there and she can take them if she wants with her cell phone.
Yes, it's normal for the cranial pressure to go up and down. It has to go down and stay steadily down for at least 24 hours before they can safely do surgery though.
Still trying to take a nap. I think I'll go ahead and do that now before it gets too late!
