A friend IM'ed me this story earlier and I can't stop thinking about it!

Okay, yes, the mom should not have been out and yes, I should be "presuming on the side of innocence" for that guy but I'm not buying his story whatsoever. If it were me and I had somehow made that mistake, my response would have been "Oh my goodness, I had NO idea she had kids with her, I never saw them, I'm soooo sad!" etc, etc. instead of " well, she shouldn't have been out".

Thanks for letting me vent- going to go bury myself back in the stories about the majority of people acting like decent human beings and HELPING each other in this time of need.

I can't believe how heartless one individual could be; how on earth could you ignore someone pleading for help? I don't for one minute believe his story; he is just a coward, plain and simple. His tale of seeing a "man" rather than the woman was just a poorly disguised attempt to justify not helping.

As for the mom being out, I believe I'd read one report that said her home had flooded and she was trying to get her children to safety. I can't imagine the nightmare she went through -- and is still living with. His trying to deflect the blame on her is unfathomable... I hope they can charge him with something criminal, but even if they can't, I imagine his neighbors are going to be pretty unsympathetic to him. So, so many people trying to hard to help out others and one selfish coward costs two little boys their lives... I hope he never gets a decent night's sleep.

Thank goodness the world is balanced with others who go out of their way to lend a helping hand.

I saw that on the news and it is absolutely sickening. I hope that man is ostracized from the community and any other community he lives in for the rest of his life. She lost her children and he could have helped. How horrible.

That is just awful! How can you turn your back on anyone in those circumstances, and I'm not buying his story at all. I guess whatever he needs to tell himself so he can sleep at night?

That just breaks my heart.  How could someone be so uncaring? I hope this haunts him for the rest of his life!

yes...what happened to people treating each other nicely , making a difference in helping others and what we were taught to be nice, etc?
