dh is home for the third day in a row. the temps have been in the high - 20`s and with the wind chill in the -40`s C as low as -49c one night. burr.

wednesday i was tired...the dog had been up off and all night with the runs. i was up and out the door at least 5 time...more i am sure.

yesterday dh took the dog to the vet because he had the runs for days already here it was because he was he had been eating wood chips....today i think maybe i had some too lol

last night dh crawled into attic to defrost the stack. here we go just like last year. when the stack freezes the smell of the sewer comes back in the house. headaches and illness.

so today the stack froze again. too much moisture going into the very fridgit temps. so today dh crawled up on the very icy roof with a kettle to thaw it...worked. sadly coming down the ladder kept moving so in a felt sweater and sandal i went out on the deck and held the ladder so he could come down and not fall.

Day two and still havent combed my hair. sad i know...body aches in this cold.

dh is putting a damper in the chimney so that when the wind blows we are still warm in here. we will open it to start the fire of course. so we have the fireplace apart and now the damper doesnt fit right. yup a hole in the pipe and cold rushing down the chimney.

well right now we are -23c with the windchill -34c. tonight - 33 without the windchill...not sure what it will be with the windchill...-40 somethingh i bet.

The weather is still bad here. The kids are still out of school. Below freezing here. Ok so it's not Thursday, but saw this and thought I would answer tonight.

did you get boots yet ellen? try a second hand store.

i get such a kick out of the people south of the border...a skiff of snow and schools are closed for snow days. here it has to be a white out for the bus to stop running or at least -40c which is the same as your -40 f. then it is up to the bus drivers weather they drive in most school districts. the school are always open in case someone drops off the kids or sends them anyway. some parents make me so mad. when it is that cold ...i dont care if you have work, you kids should not be walking. you shouldnt be out driving...what if it is in the country and you get stuck or broke down. not worth the risk. when the boys were young the buss went off the road in a slippery place. it was cold, but not -40 +. the kids were VERY cold when a neighbor came out and took them to thier house. now what if nobody got to them anytime soon? so many people think...i am going to be in a warm vehicle and will be ok. i dont need boots or mits. one kid that day didnt have socks.

It is WARM :( It's winter, where is this winter weather? Right now it's 69* with a low of 45* and tomorrow, Sunday and Monday it's supposed to be in the 70's. Saturday will take a -20* hit and the high is supposed to be 49. I just hope the back and forth doesn't end up making me sick. I wouldn't mind but they have the heater on at work and it gets toasty plus I'm hardly able to have any time outside this time of year so while it's wonderful outside, I'm stuck inside.

nope, didn't get boots glenda. i can't stand anything touching the side of my foot or the top of the left foot. so, boots are out for me.

marina said they usually don't get the snow we have had the last few days. they get flurries and that's about it. they are telling people to stay off the roads because no one here knows how to drive in the white stuff, lol.

Before our honeymoon to NYC, DH ordered us yack traks from QVC. We didn't use them in NYC but he did use his last year when we had so much snow and ice and had to get out.
