Yes, this is our fourth year in a row. Last year it was cold and non-stop rain all day and this is an outdoor event!! Miserable!!! We left before the evening performances, so cold we couldn't take it any longer. Our friends camp there for two weeks. We're way not campers!! Funny how you can be good friends with someone and be so different in some ways too. This year it's supposed to be 79º daytime & sunny and 50º at night. We'll bring warm clothes for the evening, but should be a good weather day otherwise.
I kind of remember you saying how awful it was.
Oh perfect weather this time so am sure you'll really enjoy.

Yes, it's one couple. I've been friends with them for 35 years and when my former dh died, they were there for me. Then when I married John, they loved him too and we're all friends now, so nice!

Heck if I know what the heck they do there for 1½ weeks (I was wrong on the two weeks), but still way too long for us!! They don't even go anywhere, they just stay there!! It is a fun atmosphere though in the campgrounds. The campers and tents are crammed together and those who go every year have their own spots where they return to and meet others there also. Our friends are in with about five or so other camper couples or groups and they all camp in the same area circled around with a center section where they set up their lawn chairs & bbq grills and at night have sing alongs or play music or just visit and eat meals together and such. Because it's a bluegrass festival, there is always music playing throughout the large campgrounds. A lot of the campers play bluegrass musical instruments and play them for their own enjoyment as well as for others. It really is pretty cool and a lot of fun!! A lot of them also string lights up around their camping section and put up signs or blow up toys sort of stuff and there's prizes for decorating too. Some are pretty clever!

Two years ago, they took us back there in the late evening and there is one section about double the size of our friends where a group meets every year and have for many years. They all play instruments and put on a mini concert using bluegrass country instruments playing classical music. It was really fantastsic!!

Well it does sound like fun but for over a week ?????

Oh, no, no RV for them..ever!! They don't ever want one!! They're purist tent campers and won't do it any other way!! The most modern thing about their tent is the blow up bed inside and the porta potty sitting beside the bed!! OMG..I couldn't stand one night like that!! LOL!! I know a lot of people love that sort of thing though and that's a good thing...for them!

And they have to walk clear across the fair grounds and stand on a long line of people to go into a semi truck where a shower is set up. I would go nuts!!

They both do dearly love doing this, though, and it's the highlight of their year. So, for them, I'm happy they have the opportunity. They've been going there for about 20 years. They tried every year to get my former dh and I to join them for at least one day and after that dh died, they tried every year to get me to go with them, but it never appealed to us or then to me. Finally, with my current dh, we did go and loved spending the day there, but that's it for us, one day each year. There are concerts going on all day up til about midnight or later and they're really very good performers and groups! Love the music!

Well obviously they are very passionate about that so good for them
