39 weeks slow progress

Got checked last night at l&d and was at 2cm and 80%. At my appt this morning she stripped my membranes (which I don't think will be doing anything because it felt like nothing ) and said I was a 3-4. I only saw a nurse practitioner today but I liked that better because she didn't have a strict theory of practice. The midwives are really hands off homeopathic and the obs are purely medical -- neither of which is my cup of tea. She said she stripped the crap out of my membranes (her words lol) . We'll see. If not, induction is scheduled for the 29th.

Well, I hope it does work. Mine didn't hurt when I had it done with DS, but there was definitely blood involved. I had him a week later after having to be induced. But, I don't think that will be the case with you.

So far still nothing. I feel completely normal :( I don't think it's going to work. I didn't spot or anything from it either. I wonder if she missed? Lol!

My friend who got it done didn't go into labour until late that evening. I don't think it has to hurt to do something.... it releases oxytocin which can kickstart labour or something like that.

At least 3-4 is moving in the right direction. I hope that after everything, your time is finally going to come. Fingers crossed for you!

I think so. We have no choice but to have my aunt watch the boys but my mom decided it might work better if we had her do it at mom's house if the time comes before my parents get back. My mom's house is 1 story and she has cable, so Nick Jr. can help keep the kids entertained. I don't have cable for just that reason--it's too easy to turn on a TV for peace and quiet! :) In this case I think that's the best answer though. I'm not sure the stripping is going to do much. I felt a whole lot of nothing while she was doing it and I haven't felt much of anything since--granted it's been about 3 hours only. I'm not sure how long it usually takes to kick in but she also didn't indicate that she thought it likely to do much so I'm on the fence.

Oooh 3-4 is definitely good progress! I hope the stripping works. Did you figure out your childcare issue for tonight?
